Marshall 3505 Micro Bass Stack?????

Anyone have any info or reviews on these things. I just nabbed one and it is fun. It needs a little TLC but I am ready for that. It is 30 watt head and two single 10" cabs with celestion drivers. I read that they were made from 87 until 91. It says it is made in England on the back. I can't find out much other than one harmony central review and some pics online.

Anyone got one???

Well after doing some maintenance repairs to the setup it sounds pretty damn good. It has STRONG punchy mids, and pretty good lows. I am favoring the lows heavily and cutting the highs on the EQ to get a sound I am into. I think it will have enough volume for jam and practice environments. As long as there isn't an audience. The thing is pretty cool.

Never seen one in red, didn't know they were ever factory made in that color.... of course I've only ever seen four (I guess now five), and here are two of them (mine):

Tone is alright, and has pretty efficient speakers, so "30 watts" can be misleading. I have an ad in the classifieds "WTB" for these, but the red would make me pass. I like it, but since the two I already have are black....

Cool little rigs though. The pair is easily loud enough for a respectable drummer and guitarist in a 3 pc.

The more I look at your pic, there, I'm thinking refurb. Very nice work, maybe even factory refurb, but I doubt it's original. Could be that I've only seen US models, but the power switch doesn't look right. Also the grill cloth has no sag or dust. Would be nearly impossible for the faceplate, tolex, piping, corners and grill cloth to look so pristine. Heck, was it in a sealed vacuum chamber for the last 30 years? Color me totally jealous, but skeptical that it's original. Great find, though; they are pretty darn rare here in the States, and regardless of what anyone says, are dang loud! Dare I say capable of jamming with a group? Maybe, but a whole lot of "if's" would have to line up. BUT, with two you can, and I have. Not for a gig, though, lol.

It is a 3505 Micro Bass. Yep. It's a bass amp. 30 watts@4 ohms, around 15 or so @8 ohms (never seen a data sheet). The cabs are loaded with 8 ohm Celestion G10-L35 drivers (or something like that). The guitar cabs from the same era (Lead 12) had 16 ohm G10-25D drivers. The enclosures are all the same. IIRC the 3505 is technically part of the IBS line. The 35xx designated the bass amps.

I always thought just guitar also. I see that the head is different.

I am in the same area as Kirk, they are often in local shops, and these are currently on craigslist. All guitar :( unless you want one. :hyper:

IMHO the Lead 12 is the best of the micros they made (for guitar). MGs are decent for clean and use with a pedal, but fizzy OD. The "Lead 15" is somewhere in between. None of the guitar models are particularly good for bass. (imo). The guitar models also need 8 or higher ohms.

Funny how things repeat, or seem to become relevant in groups....

After years of playing with them and using them for decor in the music room... I just the other day listed all of my micros on CL and the Marshall forum.

Now a random zombie thread bump. Weird.
