So I received my Super 100 last week. I just dropped this review on the Master Effects Facebook page...
Belated thanks for this great review which nudged me into pulling the trigger. I don't think I have anything to add, so I'll just reiterate...
I'm interested in hearing a Super 100 demo. Anybody up to the task? Even just some noodling on your favorite setting would be appreciated... The pedal seems quite similar, conceptually, to the EAE model feT, so I'm curious where the differences lie.
Sub'ed, and Super 100 ordered!
Slammed with orders + crazy busy at the day job means i literally have like maybe an hour left at the end of the day to build.
Slowly starting to make a dent in the backlog tho.
Thanks for being patient.
That’s the one I’ve been the most interested in so I’m interested to hear your thoughts.I just pulled the trigger on a Super 400 from Moon Bass in the classifieds. Really looking forward to getting it in hand and seeing how it sounds. I rocked a Mesa 400+ for years back in the late 90's/early 2000's and I'm hoping this is going to allow me to get that same tone. Hell, I may go back and start covering my old originals lol.
I’m leaning that way. I have the Mesa TT 800 two channel amp with the Boogie Channel (Mesa 400/Fender tone stack) and the Subway channel. Adding the Super 800 GK tone will essentially give me three different amps in one.Super 800 is the next pedal I'll own.
I posted this previously, but if you find there is too much drive for you even with the Gain quite low Tim suggested to me messing with Trimpot 1 inside which can lower the Gain at the expense of some output. IIRC, turning UP that little trim a bit got it right where I wanted with my Super 400. I think it’s a great pedal, and the tone with the two “Shift” controls engaged is something I’d previously never got from any Fender-type preamp outside my old 400+ and still my favorite tones in that box.I just pulled the trigger on a Super 400 from Moon Bass in the classifieds. Just got it today and I'm DEFINITELY going to have to do that. Every bass I own is active. So turning it up brings down the gain?I posted this previously, but if you find there is too much drive for you even with the Gain quite low Tim suggested to me messing with Trimpot 1 inside which can lower the Gain at the expense of some output. Yeah I’m pretty sure I remember that correctly! When I got mine it would drive really early on the dial even with my pretty low-output passives so I emailed him right awayJust got it today and I'm DEFINITELY going to have to do that. Have you tried adjusting the trim yet?I may have to reach out. I can get there but my bass is turned down pretty low.
Yeah, trim pot #1. It's better but still far from useable with the majority of my basses. I'm going to ping Sensei Tim and see what he suggests.Have you tried adjusting the trim yet?
Do you have the Bright switch turned off? That one adds a lot of gain in my experience. Also (I’m sure you know this, but worth checking)- “Volume” is Gain and “Level” is output volume (I would have assumed opposite just based on the pedal orientation, though it makes sense if you think of it in terms of signal-flow rather than reading left to right!).Yeah, trim pot #1.
