That is a delicious looking Ray with black hardware to boot. I love olivesNice, that's like one of my Rays, except mine is like a matte olive green:

VERY jealous of your EBMM collection... Is that a Cliff Williams or just same finish? Also, no love for the Sterling?
Thanks, no it's not the Cliff Williams bass. It's a fretless BFR from 2019 which looks to have the same or at least a very similar finish. I've only tried a Sterling bass a couple of times and I just didn't connect with it at the time. I'm sure if I had spent more time with one I could enjoy it. Maybe it's just the neck size, but nothing seems to feel as comfortable in my hands as a Ray.
Back to the original topic, the woman on the right is the only one with a matching headstock
No way! 24 frets! That bass is fine but you're in the wrong key...

This is my take as well. Though I’d add the caveat that maple fretboard to maple headstock is preferred. And a black headstock matching a black body with a dark fretboard works.
Something about the painted headstock matching the painted body doesn’t appeal to me, especially for bright colors. Like matching your shirt to your shoes with contrasting pants in between.
But I recognize that I’m in the minority when it comes to aesthetics. I don’t like pickguards either.![]()
