im sorry brother im brazilian i speak portuguese and my inglish is to bad im sorry
You English is far better than my Portuguese! It looked more like a drunk American typing on his cellphone. ;)

The only Portuguese I usually hear is from Flora Purim, Eliane Elias and Tania Maria. :bassist:

I hope Massa does well this year with Williams. :)

As to your question, I think Matchless really is a very different amp compared to Ampeg, from what I have read. They are impossible to find in my area so I am going by "armchair" experience here (reviews I have read). I would love to try one.

What tubes are used?

I own an early Matchless SC30 guitar amp. It is built to a much higher standard than an Ampeg and neither it nor my previous DC30 ever needed anything besides plugging in and turning on.
These are sublime and coveted guitar amps.

Matchless amplificadores por guitarras son muy, muy bueno!

If so, it is nowhere near the power of the SVT-CL but I would bet it sounds better. I have a 1962 Fender Concert Amp that sounds wonderful through a bass cabinet; it is about the same power as the Thunderman but would probably do fine for gigs that are in small clubs.

45 watts with 2 EL 34s.Not even a V4B.More like a Bassman. Years ago Matchless made a bass amp called the Thunderchief?? I think that was KT88 powered that was 200 watts maybe if I remember right. Impossible to find. There is one on the inside cover of Black Crowes Amorica.Anyway this is all from a very blurrry memory.

Matchless makes great guitar gear, and I'm sure you would find their bass gear to be well-designed... but, as many others have pointed out, they are difficult to find and that means they are probably more difficult to have serviced. The Thunderman is likely not going to push an 8x10 like the Ampeg, so your pairing matters. SVT-CL are everywhere, been a standard for Rock & Roll players for decades... I'd go SVT-CL for flexibility and availability on the safe bet... Matchless if you must turn heads when loading in.

IMO
