MB210/210MBE...here it is!

The UPS truck just dropped the 210MBE off. It looks pretty cool with the 210 combo sitting on top. Now I have to try it out. I thought I'd post a pic for you.

Well I was excited about the "stack" until I actually played through it today. I don't have much of a review. I don't have a clue why but the stack was weak. I got better sound plus a bigger sound with using just the combo. I can't figure that out at all. Second, it sounds like at least one speaker is screwed up. Lots of rattling...no power what so ever. I all ready contacted GC to try to get another 210MBE and give it a try. I sure did want to be able to "stack" for the outdoor show next weekend.

that doesnt sound too good. hopefully its just a defective cab. so far i love my 115mbe but we'll see how it really sounds tmrw if we get to play :(

No kidding...talk about being bummed out. I waited 4 months for this thing... couldn't wait to use it in the outdoor practice today and use it next weekend at the outdoor party. I'm happy with the MB210 combo, it sounds good. I hate to say it but if I can't get this resolved somehow for next weekend I'll have to go with something else. I'll lose my a$$ on a trade in but I guess that's the way it goes.

Just went to GC today looking for a MB500 head. Tried out a few things and then saw the mb210. Thought I would take a look at it and went to pick it up and move it so I could plug it in and use it. I almost thru the thing across the room. I cannot believe how f ing light that thing is. You read that it is only 33 pounds but wow it is really unbelievable. So I plug it in and wow. I am not sure what kind of devil magic GK used making this thing, but I was totally blown away at how this thing sounded. Best amp I played thru today and am seriously thinking about selling my 60 lb 210 cab and 30 lb head for this. Save my back and great sound and volume. Sounds like a good thing. I did have the same thoughts about a later purchase of an extension cab, not sure if a 115 or another 210, so I am interested to hear how this works out for you. Has anyone else tried this combo, and does anyone know what the cabs are made of? Just don't understand how these things can be so light and still sound so freaking great.

That sounds like a classic phase issue. It's likely that either the extension cab is wired the reverse of the combo speakers or the speaker cable you are using is swapping the positive with the negative. You can check the wiring using a 9v battery. Just make sure the speakers in both cabs move the same way when you put the battery on the lead. Doesn't matter if they move in or out, just that they all move the same way. Be sure not to accidently swap the battery terminals around when you test. ;)

That would be nice if that's all it is....thanks.

Could be that allright. If the bass drops out and the whole setup sounds anemic with the extension connected that's usually what it is. Either the cabinet was wired out of phase or your speaker cable got the connections reversed at one end. Check both.

That combo sounds like it's going to be amazing. I haven't seen any in Canada yet and it might be a while before I do. Once GK has supplied the Congo and the middle east they'll get around to shipping some up north to us I'm sure.

I sent you a PM...thanks.

I think the problem is solved. I was using a speaker cable with two 1/4" jacks, using a Speakon adapter to connect into the combo. The guy checked out the adapter using a meter and the adapter was causing a phasing problem. He used a speaker cable that has a speakon on each end, no adapters, and the cab kicked in.
I won't get a chance to use it in a good surrounding until next weekend at the gig we're doing but I'm pretty sure it will be ok. We'll be playing outside so I'll be able to tell if the speakers are fine. As of now they seem to be all right...just a phasing problem.

Whew! I was crossing fingers for you.

I have the same amp/cab you do... Played out last night and it was fine. We did end up playing indoors- so I can't wait to hear how yours does outside next weekend.
