Keeping the groove is important, and sounding relaxed and expressive. More notes does not necessarily a better solo make, although it is a natural way to build intensity. I guess that's the secondary part, try to build intensity throughout the solo, then release right at the end back into the song, but far more important just to keep time and groove.
