#1 - find a good lawyer and financial guy. I'd tell the financial guy to show me a plan to invest the money, and if it made sense I'd tell him that as long as my money makes money, he has a job. When it doesn't, he's fired and then I'd find the next best one.
I'd hire someone to keep all my best friends (and some family) that I haven't seen in 40 years away from me, as well as everyone with an invention, malady, sick baby, crack habit, or whatever cause that they think my good fortune should finance.
I'm 53. The next thing I'd do is put enough into the closest thing I could find to a 100% safe annuity that would pay me $1 million a year for 40 years. I figure I can live off of a mill a year, since I'm doing so on a few percent of that now.
And if I've received a mill a year and at age 93 I don't have enough to support myself, shame on me. That would not make me a victim, it would make me stupid. Dump my sorry ass at the edge of town and forget me.
Then I'd think about a few toys, houses, travel, and people or charities to whom I'd give some money.
