Meris Enzo X

Duuuuddddeee.....I want THAT board.. A lotta wow on there. The Mood and all the Meris X pedals are all on my GAS list. A short list.
Im happy with the Enzo X. That being said, i never thought the Future Impact would fit my needs, but the V4 looks promising. Hopefully sometime later this month I’ll take the plunge and be able to compare the two.
Question for those of you who have the Enzo X: I'm looking for a multifx of sorts, but I'm only really interested in:
- Reverb to add a bit of room when I practice at home with headphones
- Octave down to add heft or so to speak to choruses in pop songs that have the same chord progression throughout the song, so a synth patch could work as well
- Octave up - just for fun soloing at home
- Synth
- Freeze - I would like something like the EHX Freeze to sustain a chord so I can solo over when practicing
- Tuner

Depending on how much you really want synth engines, I would say the LVX is a better unit that fits in that bill the best - between the 3 Meris units.
However, that said, it’s tricky-ish to single out some things because these are modular units. I have an HX Stomp and I have a love/hate relationship with it. Some days it’s great and does everything I want and some days I can’t stand it

I'm not thinking octave down exclusively - it could be octave down with filter or reverb, something to add "heft." Maybe "synth" would be a better term than "octave down."

Band plays a lot of pop songs from the 80s and today that have bass synth, so I'd like to replicate those.
Reverb
I always practice with an interface into headphones. I'd like to add a tiny bit of reverb to make it less dry. Not looking for huge swells or anything in particular, just any reverb that doesn't sound too metallic or too muddy. From the Enzo X's manual:
This sounds great. Could I create a patch with just reverb, nothing else?
Freeze, octave up and tuner are not necessary, just things that would be nice to have. I know I could turn off everything but the octave up on the OG Enzo, so I assume I could do the same here?

I guess if you are needing more specific 80s style synth stuff, the EnzoX may be your best bet. As far as singling out specific effects, it takes a little manipulation but it’s not too hard.
Octave down - I’ve been working on trying to mimic my Octabvre with tone up, but it still likes the meat that the Octabvre has and I haven’t been able to get that suboctave without tone sound.
I haven’t tried just a reverb out of the EnzoX, but I’ll see if I can figure out and record a sample.
I’ve owned the OC-2 and a few clones (3 Leaf, Broughton, MXR Deluxe and Vintage, OC-5), and I prefer the more subby than synthy octaves: the Aguilar Octamizer and the Mantic Hulk.
I spoke to Meris, and they actually suggested the Mercury X. It has reverbs, a full-fledged compressor, preamps, filter, octave up and down, modulation and freeze, among other things.
I’m thinking maybe I could create good enough synth sounds using the octave down with a gainy preamp, filter, modulation and reverb.
Although I think I’m just going to get the Enzo X once it’s in stock here in Canada. Maybe I’ll have to get a Mercury X later

I prefer a more subby octave in most cases as well, which is why I have considered the Hulk to use with the 3Leaf. I’d set them up on a parallel path in case I wanted to blend both sounds.
Honestly, all 3 of the Meris pedals are great! A lot of versatility with them.
With the EnzoX right now, I’ve been working on a brassy mono synth to emulate a tuba (I have some sound samples) just because it was my principal instrument in college.
Well, I just snagged a new one off of Reverb. It wasn’t a pre-order so it should be here next week.

If you have a chance, would you mind recording something with just the octave down to see how it sounds? I'm starting to worry it might sound too clinical and that I should just try and get a 3 Leaf instead. Thanks!

I put my Enzo X in the classifieds. Great pedal and a lot of fun, but I’m shifting in a different direction.
I succumbed and ordered one today. I did sell my Peavey Classic 50/50 yesterday so it cost me $62 including shipping direct from Meris
One thing I wasn't sure was if the MIDI out will send note information out say to another synth but I am suspecting it will only be beat or clock information. If it does then I can definitely control my Korg synths.
My other band, I am using the H90 a lot and I was going to get another H90 but I think this would be work better for me.
I will be using this not only with bass but Baritone sac and guitar as well.

I would have sold mine $550 shipped in basically mint condition. I switched to an H90 and cut my board in half basically.
Has anybody else received a Enzo X since the last post? If so, how do you like it? Initial reactions seem to criticise the tracking a bit, but maybe firmware updates or other workarounds (e.g., certain settings) have improved it since it was last discussed here in spring last year?
I've had no problems with tracking. Like any synth pedal, you need to play the pedal. And, in the case of the Enzo X, play the patch.
