Mesa 212 and 215 subway cabs.

I’m not complaining, this model seems pretty nice. The options on mid adjustments are very nice. The low cut is a great addition as well.

fx loop send out of master amp into FX return of slave amp? Master volume on each amp (master and slave) adjusts volume of each set of 4ohm speakers separately? Master amp EQ And setting adjust across all speakers?

Yes, effects send of the master amp to the effects return of the slave amp. Set each amp’s impedance switch to the speaker load connected to that amp. Master volume of the slave amp controls the volume of the slave amp. If you set it the same as the master amp, the levels will be the same.

Just wanted to confirm. Didn’t realize who I was replying to until just now. Did you have a hand in the development of this amp?

If I was ever to use this set up, would I be correct in thinking the D800 would suffice as the slave? seeing as I’d only be using the power amp section of the D800?

Yes, I designed the entire Subway line. The D-800 would work fine in this situation.

What’s been going on? Sorry I haven’t posted back on my thread. I got the 215 and 212 subway cabs in about a week ago. Tried both out for a few days. Super impressed by both. The 215 had massive low end and yet tons of clarity for 15’s IMO. I realize it comes down to more than just speaker size when it comes to what the cab will sound like. I’m just comparing to other single 115 cabs I have experience with. The 212 just seemed more tailored for the kind of stuff I’ll be using it for. As @Wild Rice Chris said in an earlier post, I think the 212 is going to work better for me with metal and rock. The 212 seems to punch and grind a little harder than the 215 and I think it will leave a little more room down low for the kick drum. When I tested both the 212 and 215, the 212 also seemed to take distortion and fuzz a little better than the 215. Just sounded a little better. Or maybe it was just more of what I was used to from my previous cab set up. I ended up sending the 215 back and got a second 212. I’m not really sure why, the 1 212 seems to be plenty for jamming. But if not I’ve got the second 212. I’ve lately been curious about doing a clean and dirty amp set up just to see how it sounds with these Mesa cabs. I was thinking about getting the 410 subway cab and running it with a orange terror bass 500 head, distorted and then running the WD800 clean with the 212. I can split the signal after my tuner and send signal A through distortion effects and into the terror bass. Then have signal B go straight to the WD800 for a clean tone. Blend each for overall tone.

I’m using the four TC electronics 12s for guitar. I’ll play something on guitar and loop it through those cabs. Then jam on bass through the Mesa rig. It’s not stereo guitar “unless I set it up that way” it’s just basically a bass rig between two identical guitar rigs with the same mono signal goin to both guitar rigs.

I agree it is a pretty involved set up and maybe not necessary. However I’m going to be jamming in a band with two half stack guitar players again that like their rigs pretty loud to get tones they are after or whatever. “Idk I don’t understand guitar stuff that well”. I’m just concerned about cutting through and keeping up. The distortion seems to help the bass sit a little better with the two high gain guitar set ups. However distorting the bass signal seems to make it a little less defined. When I met Troy Sanders I talked with him about his live set up. Him and his brother Darren both. Troy runs a dirty amp and a clean amp on stage. The dirty goes to an 810 cab on stage and the clean to a 412 I believe. FOH mics his dirty cab and then takes a clean DI for his clean sound and blend for the PA system. They said it’s a pretty common set up in metal to always have a separate constant clean along with the dirty to blend. Bass player from sepultura sets up this way too, from what I was told.
