Mesa 400+!!!

Anyway, a question to all those NV610 players w/Mesa 400+'s: what kind of music do you guys play? Do you play alot of gigs with the cab & amp? and feel that you can cut through? I am mostly a rock n' roll bass player playing somewhat fast finger licks (a la iron maiden or something), but I do on the occasion like to slap n' tap and such... so how does your slap tone sound? (btw, I use a 4003 Rick and an american P/J fender)

I play classic rock using a Ric 4003 and a Lakland Darryl Jones. It cuts through rather well. I play 2-6 gigs a month with that setup. I don't slap, so I can't answer that part.

I don't have chops that even remotely resemble Steve Harris', but my tone is probably closer to his than about any other player I can think of. To me, I think I'd have a hard time dealing in my tone without a tweeter or midrange driver (the 6" mid in the NV215 does just fine), or a whizzer cone (like the EA Wizzy). But that's just me. I do know that there are some songs I do where an NV610 would be the shiznit.

Tom.

I played mostly funk, rock, punk, reggae, dub, and ska. It's a very versatile combination. Whether it's the head, the cab, or the combination of the two, I really couldn't say. I do know that it translated all music styles beautifully. I was never left wanting anything 'more'. Lack of a tweeter or horn was a plus for me, because even though I slap a lot, I didn't like the harshness of the horns/tweets I've played through. To each his own, but I got all the treble I ever wanted out of the cab with now problem.

Ps. I played with a Rick 4003, Fender Jazz, Yamaha BB2000, and a Stingray. All basses came alive with this rig. Great head and a great cab.
