Mesa and Mark Bass - YUM!

Weight is a real issue for me, and so I picked up a couple of MarkBass MB58R 102 Pure cabs this week. I just got a chance to play them with a Mesa D800 head. Holy tone Batman, these cabs are great!

23 lbs each and they sound fantastic!

In my experience, MarkBass cabs pair very well with Mesa and Aguilar amps.

I really like the look of Mark bass cabs plus I also like the advertised weight of them but I have to save for one as they are around $2000 here in New Zealand

Oh wow. These were $799 each, which isn't too bad for quality speaker cabs. The weight is a dream.

it is all down to shipping cost to NZ, duties for the retailer, exchange rates etc so those costs have to be absorbed into the retail price. yeah $799 is a great price for a markbass cab but when you convert that to NZ dollars that is actually $1300NZD . I do currently own one markbass product and that is their 5 string Gloxy jazz bass and I absolutely love playing it.

Yep, also unfortunately the Motherland suffers from economy of scale. A dealer can't import 50 Markbass cabs down to NZ as a bulk shipment and expect to sell them all.

Yes, a Mesa D-800+ and Markbass cabs makes for a great pairing. Ask me how I know...

Two 8ohm Markbass Traveler 151P (45lbs ea)
Two 8ohm Markbass Traveler 102P (37lbs ea)
After hauling around a 100lb+ Peavey 1820 cab for years, anything under 50lbs makes me extremely happy.

In my experience, MarkBass cabs pair very well with Mesa and Aguilar amps.

Can't speak for Aguilar, but the Mesa Subway Series I think will pair well with almost anything. I use my D-800+ with 8ohm Markbass Traveler cabs, 115s and 210s or a 4ohm GK NEO IV 212. That amp is fantastic.

Just like car engines, nothing beats displacement.

And Markbass just keeps on delivering. Their latest cabs, even lighter than mine, no more rat fur, and they still sound great!

Yea, I have two Traveler 102P and a 121HR which is sadly discontinued but I love it.
I use MarkBass, Mesa and Aguilar amps and I'm tickled with all combinations.
Not the displacement that you have but still kicks hard in my world.

Two 102P cabs are more than enough. You're talking a 410 cab, just spread across two enclosures instead of one. Most of the time when I play out it's either just a single GK NEO IV 212 or the two MB Traveler 151P cabs.

I just got the 102P cabs about 7 weeks ago. Need to take them to next rehearsal just to see how they sound in the mix with the band by themselves. At home when I'm practicing solo, I run both 151P and 102P cabs while pushing covers out of two JBL EON715 powered PA cabs. And although I'm running 4 cabs, there are these things called volume knobs and they don't have to be turned all the way up either. I have practiced through all 4 cabs while running covers through the JBLs at levels that would allow you to carry on a conversation over them. And they still sound fantastic.

Everyone sees a huge stack and think, who needs all that? You'll never play that loud. It's not always about being "that loud". While doubling cabs can increase the volume if you want it too, doubling the cabs can increase the tone/fullness without majorly increasing the volume as well.

And I can get crazy and run two amps, spread the cabs out, etc... it's not always about pushing the most decibels possible but more about the tone you get from multiple speakers / cabs, even amps. I've never been a fan of a 210 by itself, but two of them, it's a whole new sound. Same for 115 cabs, two of them are better than one. And it's easier to move them vs a 410 or 215 cab.

I briefly had a Mesa/Markbass rig. I kind of wish I kept the Markbass combo, but I have too many amps already. I suppose since everyone else is posting photos I will too.

Nice! I just saw the new 58 series cabs at GC this week; when I picked up the 2x10 it was floored by how light it was, and they also had a 4x10 that felt much lighter than my 2x10 cab which weights about 36-38lbs. Crazy!
