Mesa bass gear back in Guitar Center?

I believe that some GCs have carried Mesa for a long time, but not if there's another previous dealer in the area. That's the situation here.

If that dealer died off or failed to move enough product to maintain the franchise, then the GC in the area may pick it up.

Never cared much for Mesa's anti-competitive retail model. :spit:

What actually happened is that Mesa pulled their bass line from GC some years ago, while still keeping the guitar amp line in place due to some conflict on what to carry. They recently have renegotiated to carry the bass line of amps again. It didn't have to do with the local retailer thing that most people thought it was.

The store manager at my local Guitar Center said that it did in California, and that as long as a local chain here that predated CG had the Mesa franchise, the GC here could only sell Mesa stuff through one of their other NorCal GC stores that did have their local Mesa franchise.

He said he could set me up with whatever Mesa gear I wanted, but I'd have to go to the Bay Area to get it.

I was in my local Guitar Center last weekend (GC in Paramus, NJ) and they had an M6 Carbine sitting on top of a Mesa 212. Both were brand new.

Yeah man, there was the same stack in the GC here in Charlotte, NC. The guy I talked to said that they are going to carry them now and that he could order whatever I needed. I hope they get more gear in for me to try since it was the first time I've been able to play them.
