MESA BIG BLOCK 750------> CONFUSION!

Mine is plenty loud with one 4 ohm Bergantino HT322 (2 tens and a twelve)

I've heard the Big Blocks have an awesomely gritty gain stage but 750w at 2 ohms... that's disappointing.

My BB750 had awesome gritty tone, and one of the best OD sounds for bass I've ever heard - but, it couldn't produce enough clean volume *for me*... So, I traded it in for a new M-pulse 600, and that's worked out great - it can get as much grit as I'll ever want, yet do the clean, warm, tubey thing fantastically... Also, the M-pulse 600 is considerably more powerful than the Big Block 750, if that matters...

Finally..... M9, BB, M-Pulse 600.... which one is the best for Metal Band. I am very confused which one to buy (BB is in store there now.. I can try but others are not need to order). I am using Stingray5 HH with Sansamp bass driver.

I'm hard tempted to not make a "metal lol" joke so I'll hold off, but-
the question is do you want more cut or more fundamental/support. Also get that BDDI outta there with these kinda amps.

I can see/agree with the "clean" power bit- the 750 breaks up a lot quicker than the MP600 but IME the overall power is equal. The 750 was hella loud for me through my NV610.

If you're playing metal, you probably don't need too much clean headroom, I'd stick with the BB.

Even if you can't run 4 8 ohm cabs, you should be able to push 3 no problem.

I run my BB750 at 4 ohms and it's awesomely loud as hell. I can't turn the volume up past 8 o'clock. And that's competing with 2 guitar players with full stacks. This amp has plenty of power for any application. It's been a GREAT amp for me.

OMG! you gave me very critical information.... about using 2 ohms... i can't afford that if it happens cause i live in hong kong..... can't imagine shipping charges....lol
i need to find out weather they have M9 carbine or not....

I have heard the same thing that running it at 2 ohms might overheat the power mosfets. I run mine a 4 ohms (2 ea 4 x 10) and it absolutely crushes and I have never had any problems. It runs very cool.

The ratings might be close, but I always had to push the BB750 to be able to hear myself in my current bands, whereas with the M-p 600, my Pre Gain stays around 1 o'clock, and my Master Volume never goes above 10 o'clock - with the same basses and cabs... The BB750 definitely didn't seem as powerful *to me*...
