Given the amount of speaker area, that must be a LOT of volume you're jamming. I've used the Walkabout into two 4 Ohm 2x15 cabs with an extremely loud band (metal, 2.5 Marshall 100w stacks, not a typo - five 4x12 cabs for two guitarists) and wasn't even diming my amp to be felt & heard.

Have fun with the "dragon", and wear earplugs !

I always wear plugs. Yup-we get loud-the drummer can hit hard or harder, and the rhyth guitarist was constantly asking that I turn up. He stopped complaining now.

Have a Mesa M6 Carbine with Mesa headcase on it's way to me from Bass Central. Should be here on Friday.

Recently sold my Ashdown/Ampeg setup and had been looking for a new rig. I thought I had decided on a GK Fusion 550. Missed a used one by about a day and couldn't find a new one near by to save my life. I saw an ad in the classifieds for the M6 and decided to research it a bit. I read every page of both M6 mega-threads and it actually didn't sound like my cup of tea at all.

Called one of the Mesa dealers near me and asked if they had one. Clerk said no, but said they had an MPulse 600, Titan V12, and a Fathom. I love it when sales people know their product :rollno:. Made a trip over to try it out and.....WOW! I thought this amp sounded so good. Either I don't understand when people describe amp tone or I'm clueless as to what my preferences actually are.

I agree completely that a pair of PH115's produces a glorious tone. I have the exact same cabs (both 400 watt versions) and i freaking adore them. With either my walkabout or Big Block they sound so perfect!

fact is, even at low volume it sounds better than the single PH115 did. More balanced tone with flatter mids overall. Yipee!

They very well could have a Fathom left. That was the previous name for the M6. There are a lot out there. I just sold one, actually.

Nice review Lomo! I wondered how the Shuttle 9 would fare. i had a Shuttle 6.0 for quite a while and i think the Walkabout is equal to it in volume. the Shuttle 6.0 sounded quite thin with my Mesa cabs and i was taxing it pretty hard in my band.

I can't see the M9 ever not being loud enough. But aside from that, it sounds so amazingly good. very different from the Walkabout but such a hi fi tone that i am finding it very addicting!

Full band jam last night with the M9 through Epi 310/210. This is definitely a keeper. Feels like the amp equivalent of a muscle car. With gain at 2 o'clock and master at 9 I got a tad of tube drive and as much volume as my Walkabout dimed. Very good tone, although not "to die for" like the the Walkabout IMO. The compressor is perfectly adequate for my needs (I may now sell my FEA stompbox model). I have always liked graphic eq and love this feature. I know a watt is a watta dn I fully understand the difficulty of comparing volumes due to differing gain slopes, but through the 310 alone, this head sounds far louder than the virtually identically rated Shuttle 9. The drummer loved how easily he heard me through the M9. I definitely dig having my own dragon!

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll ask here. I was considering having a head case built for my Buster 210 wedge, but after getting it back from the shop with new tubes, I'm kinda digging the 210 combo format. Sounds great. Now I'm thinking about an 8 ohm ext cab, and logically, a Deisel 210 would be the perfect match. But, can't help thinking maybe a 1x15, or even a 2x12 might be cool, so, what say ye Mesa club members? Just curious, as i'm in no hurry. I gig my Walkabout/212 rig, this is no more than a 2nd, awesome rig. I know the 210 is an obvious choice, but I've done the 210/115 (Ampeg) in the past, with great results. Thanks.

I no longer like to mix cabs as i find my tone is always more focused with matching cabinets and speaker sizes. However, many many bass players love the 210/115 format. Tough choice! i vote for whichever one comes up for a killer deal in the classifieds first! :)
