This ones for Visirale. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mesa-Boogie-TIT...ryZ64397QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

...or anyone else that wants a new Titan at discounted prices :).

Ugh! 200 off what I paid for it :(. That's a great deal, wasn't counting on anything like that coming up.

Oh well, mine is at the dealer and paid for... I'm sure once I'm playing through it I won't care either way. Going to go pick it up soon!

I'm just pissed that the work on my Sadowsky is taking so long and I won't have it to play through the head until next week. Oh well, I'm sure stingray + titan will be a nice combo too :).

Ok, so I got the Titan and haven't plugged it in yet (parents just got home and I don't feel like explaining it to them right now, haha). But I gotta give mesa props for the user guide. It's almost a book... and EVERY function is explained extensively... It goes out and explains the tonal differences of different gain settings from each turn of the knob... it's in depth!

Ok, so I am now going through the fun process of trying the head out at home. It took me a few minutes to get a really sweet sound like I had in the store, but I got it in again, and mannnn is it sweet.

At first I was like "Well, this is loud but not a whole lout louder than my LMII at 8 ohms," but then I realized that the Titan has an "output" knob which is like a second master volume. It was at about 8 o'clock. I cranked that and out came the 600 watts at 8 ohms, haha.

I don't think I can ever play a non-hybrid amp again. The sound from the tube pre is just so warm and nice. It adds just the right amount of color to my sound.

Also, bass players DESERVE this flexibility. By that, I mean multiple channels and dedicated overdrive circuits for each channel. Footswitchable between the two. Guitar players have had it for a while now, and most bass heads just go with one channel. I can't wait to get 2 really distinct and separate sounds and having them available at all times by the press of a footswtich button.

Anyway, obligatory pics of course:

The 212 is great. Tons of deep guttural lows, with a lot of clarity too. Honestly after trying Mesa's 10s, I don't know which I like better. I'd like to have both but a bunch of people here have bad things to say about mixing driver sizes and sound waves mixing and blah blah. I don't think it'd sound bad... but I haven't tried it either. I like the 12s as a substitute to a 15. It gives you all the lows in a tighter aural package with none of the "flop" of a 15.

Oh wow the titan is amazing. The overdrive circuit alone is great... but when you start messing with the gain settings of the preamp in addition to the overdrive level... wow. For right now I have channel one set clean as a very pillowy clean tube sound. I have the gain set right before actual breakup, but a really thick sound. I have the overdrive set on that channel pretty low too so when I engage it it just makes it even more "pillow-y." I have channel 2 set clean so it's more like a driven tube amp sound. A lot more middy and grindy. I have the OD set on that channel to be a full on roar. It's dirty as all get out...

I still haven't gotten to really crank up the volume yet, but I can already tell the tone just gets sweeter as you turn it up.

I also played with the footswitch today. It's definitely going to be an integral part of my playing now... So great to have everything accessible at your feet.

I also got a good trade offer to get another 212. Oh dear. I really need to see if I can load two 212s in my car and have room for my basses. I'm pretty sure I'm going to leave the titan unracked so that can fit in my trunk.

Argh I need more money haha.

Visirale, dude, you've got a killer rig now, bro. Another 212 will be perfect. I'm trying to decide what kind of cab to get for my monster amp, an SVT 6Pro. I wanted the Titan, but couldn't pass on the deal on the Ampeg. Thinking hard about a 4 ohm 412, but also looking at the other large Schroeder cabs, like the 21015. Won't be able to get it till the end of the year. In the meantime, it's Walkabout head, Epifani UL2 212 for my rocking rig.

I would love a 412 or 810 but my car isn't big enough for either. I think the 212 alone is a squeeze. Plus my trunk is basically unusable, but I think the titan will slip in there fine.

But I love RWD too much to sell it for something cheaper with more room.

I think when all is said and done I'll have one 212 in the front seat, one in the back leaning on the center thing (I have an annoying raised section that goes all the way through the cabin). Then I have to squeeze in a double gig bag. It will definitely be crammed and I'll have to get it down to a science... but I THINK it can be done.

I haven't tried the Schroeder stuff, but have heard nothing but good stuff about them. I understand about going with the deals. .. never a bad way to get some killer gear and save some cash :).

Hope all is going well for you all...

Just wanted to come back after owning the titan for another week or two. It really is my perfect head. I just love the mesa bass tone. I think a large part of it is that my first "real" head after my first combo and the crappy SVT350h was a mesa bass 400. This thing gives me the tone I loved out of that, but with a lot more headroom. I'm sure once I get everything set up after college and am raking in the bucks (;)) I'll get a bass 400+ or whatever they put out to replace it... but this is definitely going to be my workhorse for a while.

The mesa tone is just to die for... I just love how the tone gets warmer and warmer as the gain gets turned up. My stingray with flats is loving it... and my sadowsky hasn't met it yet because it's been in the shop for over 2 weeks now :(.
