already a member but thought I would post my updated rig

NICE! I have the PH1000 with my 400+ but man I need one thats roadready like yours...... hoping one of these "downsizing" guys springs one at a decent price..

Nice stack though, nice P and Ric too --> most won't say this but I'd love to be your neighbor :bassist:

I've have an M9 carbine with vinyl cover and a Powerhouse 212 on order. Can I join this club now?

I think you will be a very happy bass player when that rig arrives. i would buy an M9 in a heartbeat but just scored a BB750 that is filling my life with warm tubey goodness!

The 212 is a very nice cab. I went for a 412 as the deal was too good to pass up but Mesa has done really well with their 12 inch cab offerings in my opinion.

Have you compared them? I had a chance to play 3 Mesa heads in a store a few weeks ago: BB750, Fathom (Now M6 Carbine as I understand) and M9 Carbine. I found they were all very different animals.

To be honest, I didn't like the M9 at all. It was very sterile and lacked any warmth. Very "solid state" sound.

The Fathom sounded quite nice if I turned the gain knob past 12 o'clock, I think it is a good amp for its price tag.

The BB750? I fell in love. The clean channel was what I think a bass amp should sound, beautiful. The distrotion channel was very interesting too, not all that musical, but I think useful in some occasions. I'm now GASing for one but the price tag on a new one is a little bit too high for me.

How would you compare them?

They are expensive but sure are a warm and aggressive amp. I have not been able to compare the BB750 to an M6 or M9 directly, but i did play through an M9 and was impressed.

Funny you mention preferring the M6 because a well respected saleman at my local dealer told me today that he much prefers the M6 over the M9. He said that the M9 was simply too loud and the amp couldn't open up unless it was obscenely loud. He raved about the M6. The price difference is not very much. I could care less about the graphic eq but the compressor and included footswitch alone seem to be worth the extra cash, not to mention the extra wattage.

I can't imagine my BB750 not being loud enough as it is so loud for the 540 watts its rated at at 4 ohms. Mesa seems to give you a lot more for the given wattage rating then any other manufacturer I have ever dealt with.

I am turning into a complete Mesa junkie! I have accumulated the following gear in the past 2 months and plan to be running all Mesa from now on:

Big Block 750 with headcase
Powerhouse 412
Powerhouse 115 X 2
Walkabout Scout 112 (just got this yesterday!)

The Scout is amazing but the Walkabout head on top of the 2 115 cabs is absolutely sublime!

I'm with you. 2 yrs ago I had 3 or 4 different Ampeg rigs. Now, it's all about my Walkabout head and GB Uber 212, and my newly aquired Mesa Bass Buster 200 2x10 combo, and the Deisel 215 I sit it atop. Mesa bass gear, old or new, similar tonal goals- clean and warm. Tasty.

It's in the shop atm, but I do love how it sounds. Thinking real hard about having a head case built for it, since I'm using my 215 with it anyway. The 210 wedge couldn't be more difficult and unweildy. Great amp, horrible wedged design. Even the handle and tiny wheels are of little use when moving it around. But, I do love the way it speaks, with warmth and authority.

I've always wanted to play with a Buster: now I don't never want to play with the wedge;)

I believe I saw where someone else built a headcase for their wedgie...I think that's probably what I'd do.

my feelings exactly. I would add that I found the speakers a bit too bright for my liking as well (at least on their own). Now, the Buster head with a PH115? Bliss. I'd love to hear a Buster 15" combo but tbh I doubt I'd buy it...

I've had one gig with my M-9 and loved it.. I was using Bergantino HT and EX 112ER cabs.. They need plenty of power and the M-9 has it.. I have a HT-322 on the way and I think that combined with the Mesa should rock as well...
I've had a few different Mesa products within the last year and have been impressed by them all.. I tried the BB-750 abd wasn't too thrilled with the.. I like the M-Pulse 600, but jst a few too many controls and I wouls have preferred more power especially for the Berg cabs...

Ok ladies and gentlemen, here's the most up to date list with all PM's responded too. Just a friendly reminder to keep the PM's coming and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I've been working 6 days a week as of lately, and free time has been scarce.
