Mesa Boogie Subway D800+ Is it LOUD?

I've played the 800+ through a Heritage 810 and two Subway 1 15's and they both sounded great. Plenty loud with two guitar players using 100 watt Marshall's and 4 12's playing hard rock. me and my old back waved bye bye to the SVT .

in all seriousness i believe that you could easily drown out a non mic'ed drummer with the d800 and two 410 cabs

I must have the loudest drummer in the world then because I've got two 610's, running @2ohms and my drummer can still beat my D800 into submission.

This is why Im just going to have to demo it. I dont think people realize how loud drummers and boutique amps/cabs are in my musical circle. Every snare hit is a rim shot. All crash cymbals. Hi hat is never closed. Guitars are always super high gain. Zero dynamics. Imagine the loudest thing you can. Its louder than that. Most musicians would say to themselves "ok thats loud enough". That doesnt happen in my world.

I have been caught without them at some shows and since Ive gotten so used to the sound with them in... I am shocked by the intensity of the trebble in everything.

No disrespect intended, but that kind of environment calls for hearing protection. Personally that genre would be more than I would be comfortable in volume-wise, but if it's your thing that's great - just don't sacrifice your hearing, you can't get it back. Even special forces folks (like Navy SEALS) wear hearing protection on the range and even in some combat situations.

Agreed and I hear you loud and clear. Well, as clear as I can... ha. I always wear plugs when I jam and when I shoot.

Yep. I can keep up with two guitarists with stacks and my drummer with my D800 until the drummer starts going ham enough to destroy lugs. Then it's iffy. It's the primary reason why I'm going to a 1500 watt RBI/power amp setup.

I mean I don't scoop and I run the voicing knob off, and I'm playing an SB2, so I'm pretty mids heavy. I know the difference between bedroom tone and band tone. This is just a super loud band.

If you're trying to get maximum loud, I'd roll the HPF up a bit (maybe noon), leave the voicing near flat, and don't use the deep switch. With a pair (or more) of decent cabs you'll be able to peel paint off the walls.

yeah I was thinking exactly the same thing! I play an active P-Bass and I always dime the mids so it cuts though the mix. Will also get rid of the sub hz to free up the amp for everything else.

No knock on the D800 at all, but my GK MB800 will peel the paint off the walls when played through my two mesa PH410s. just my .02

Is that all? The D800 will bring the entire wall down!
