When I ordered my custom shop 12 combo (the wine gator leather one) I literally begged them to use paired handles on the sides and was told they would not change the design in any way. They WILL sell handles separately (I bought one for my aluminum headcase) , but without knowing where the cab is reinforced I wouldn't install one myself. IMHO the single handles on the Scout cabs and combos are a silly design flaw that they should rectify with paired side handles..........but they haven't called asking for my opinion:D A PH 112 cab weighs less than a Scout 12 combo and the PH has paired side handles but.......oops.....I guess I was applying logic......like asking for a more powerful Walkabout "Stomp" edition........

Thanks to the derail posts, one forgotten detail of Jarry Parc is coming back to me, vividly: although their MLB stadium was distinctly small-time, the Québécois really went above and beyond when hiring their ushers--at Jarry, all *very* attractive young women. That made quite an impression on me as a youngster, and really helped fuel my interest in baseball at the time.:)

Back on topic, I haven't spent much time schlepping a Scout 15 combo, but I've toted the 12" combo a lot. It's manageable with the single top handle. If the load-in stinks (like last weekend's wedding gig in DC, involving parking garage-->elevator-->hotel lobby-->other elevators-->24th floor-->interim staging room-->final set-up), putting the thing on wheels makes life easier.

I've tried strapping on a caster-board, but for me the Scout is too low to be comfortably rolled over distance. A folding hand cart works pretty well, but the Scout's low center of gravity over the wheels make it prone to tip forward if the cart is fairly upright when I move it. To keep from having to hunch over the cart, I rachet-strap the Scout to the handtruck--which makes it secure enough to pile on a small pedalboard or spare utility bag.

It's a lot like having the built-in Mesa handcart, but a bit more heavy-duty, taller, and less prone to rub through the tolex. And once on a cart, the Scout is easy enough for even a Jarry Parc usherette to handle--and look good doing it.

right now the try out list looks like this:

- Berg AE112 x 2
- Mesa Diesel 15 x 2
- Bag End S15D x 2
- Ampeg 115HE (because I have one sitting here)
- changing out the 4ohm 12" WA/Scout drivers for 8ohm Mesa's

I may also consider going back to Scout 15's, maybe even a pair of them, just to get the most of what the WA can offer. It seems probable to me that the Scout/WA 15's transmit the power and tonal beauty of the WA a bit better than the 12's. will be giving up the portability of the 12's if I go that route though.

decisions decisions decisions.

on a side note, I did get my hands on a Fender Super Bassman + Fender 4x10 neo cab today. Will get to gig test it and use it for a month or so before I make any decisions on it. Sure sounds sweet right up front ! :D

it really sounds sweet in my home practice space. Will get to try it in rehearsal Friday, then will gig it on Sat. I'll report back (but probably in a separate thread, as this is supposed to be a WA thread :))

To be fair, beer poured into an amp is hardly what I would call "normal wear and tear"... I mean, if I drop my amp down the stairs, I can hardly complain that I might have to pay to get it fixed. But if it just stops working at a gig for no apparent reason, I would expect Mesa to step up to the plate for me.
