The diesel 15's are great cabs. Those EV speakers were special, I think, as long as you don't want a horn. They're heavy as all get out though, especially the Road Ready versions.
The Scout 15's are really nice, but also big. Not as heavy.
If you're a no horn kinda guy, you might look into some of the newer fEARful 2x15 or 1x15 options...

Have you tried the GK Neo-ll 115? That's one of the few cabs I remain curious about. Not too $$, nor too big/heavy. Is it a 15 tunes "twelvish" like a Bag End or would a pair of those project 60-100Hz?
I can deal with no horn as long as I get decent mid extension. I really don't need all that snap/sizzle up top.
I have been sniffing around the fEARful 1x15 (Bassic) cabs. They may be a good option.
I know this is the WA mega thread, so I will not over do this too much, but I got a Fender Super Bassman and a Fender 4x10 neo cab from the same series for an open ended trial (nice).
Holy Crap! what a great amp. I even like the 4x10 and I am no friend of 10's in general.
Its just way too much power for my needs, but what a joy to play this rig. Absolutely what you would expect from a 300w all tube Bassman amp:
- great low end. full where it's needed with seemingly very little wasted on trying to push freqs sub 50hz
- classic Fender passive mids that bark just right when pushed up.
- Nice top end that does not seem to even be able to sizzle.
- And with the 300w, there is just a huge amount of headroom - so dynamics are never crushed/squished and just come pounding out of this rig loud and clear.
I think I would like it better with 2 of the new Fender neo 15's, but even the 4x10 sounds sweet as hell.
Now, as this is officially a Mesa WA thread, I will say that my WA12+Scout 12 rig sounds very nice in a side by side comparison with the Fender. I think the WA mini stack only falls down when the vol gets pushed. Then the Fender just shines.
Have rehearsed twice with the Fender, and gigged once. Will have a number of opportunities to work this baby out over the next 2 weeks. Then I will decide if I want one permanently.

I repeat-this is an excellent option, but I have never seen one used. Mine came from Mike Arnopol, who was a pleasure to deal with. I told him I needed quality mid projection to 1200Hz and he said the Faital 15 would give it up until 4KHz. Sounds great. Less boom than a Scout 15, but still meaningful content around 80-100Hz. Nowhere near as deep as a 15/6. 4 Ohms.
Got my HPF-pre 3 hooked up with the WA this weekend. No more using the low para EQ to kill 50hz. I don't know about more headroom but definitely a tighter bottom. Would probably work well with any amp. Getting closer to my "300 watt B-15" dream machine.

Just to clarify, it may be that I had more headroom. I just wasn't playing loud enough to tell.
Big plus one on the diesels... I run a walkabout on top of two diesel 115s. It's a pretty awesome rig.
Was that the EV 15" 400w driver in the diesel cab? The replacement driver I got in '92 is a Mesa branded EV.

Can someone point to where in the thread the noisy fan issue is dealth with? The WA is my practice amp for now and I'd enjoy it more without the constant noise. This little bugger is louder than my B1500! Anyway my search attempt was futile but I do remember reading about a mod or replacement long before I was a proud owner.

Ha, I love a band in Newcastle named the "Junco Partners", as I'm in New Orleans, play "Junco Partner" regularly at gigs, and my best pal who lived here for many years is from Newcastle!
Good tone by the way. A P with flats into a Walkabout is about as solid as it gets!
