So have you tube rolled? What are your thoughts on the amperex in v1, raytheon in v2? I wanna slap the best tubes in my wa possible but i dont have the patience for experimenting. :o:)

The tubes I have in there give me a creamier OD that doesn't buzz-saw (and become useless to me) quite as early as other combinations I have tried. The Amperex also sounds thicker down low to my ear. I like the new tung sol as well, but the differences are subtle and I would never hear them in a live mix, quite honestly. Fun stuff, but not as significant as, for example, changing strings or adjusting the eq.

No question the 15 is significantly louder and fuller than the 12. The 4 Ohm 15 (in contrast to the 12) can also absorb almost the full power of the head-it's an efficient match.

I only had a few minutes before my kid's bedtime, so I didn't get to "open it up" so to speak. I noticed the fuller lows immediately in A/B with the 12. I think the volume would show more once youturned up. My immediate take:

Bass: Sadowsky NYC V4PJ

Amp: EQ was flat, gain at 10:00, master at 9:00

Cabs: The crossovers were set to sheen at 9:00

15 was fuller and rounder. The 12 had a bit more of an aggressive character to it then the 15. Just a tad brighter too imo. Nothing really surprising.

It is lighter than the 12 with the head mounted inside which is nice. Plus, i mutch prefer the head on top vs the whole mounted vertical thing. It does "feel" like it needs a headcase though, that just "looks right"!

I will give it a more thorough testing this weekend with some different basses. I might swing by the practice room and try it next to my pair of GK 112 II's and my Epifani PS410 for further comparison.

I'd try Telefunken in V1, Mullard in driver socket.

I love this setup so much. DI out of the amp sounded great, output gain barely on. Big, fat, round sound that growls a bit when you dig in. Love it.

Love that RBV-best Fender ever IMHO, although a bit heavy for my taste.

No pics yet, but today my Walkabout + 2xGenz-Benz 10T speakers played an outdoor gig off the iconic flatbed trailer for a Veteran's Family Day held at a VFW in a town near here. The only hard part was getting up and off the trailer! Great tone, plenty of volume (master up to about 9:00 am) and light weight. What's not to love?

There was a nice breeze, with late lunch after with my squeeze. Wish every weekend was this good.:D
