I've tried an AG500 before through my NV610 and found it kinda honky for my tastes, though I didn't spend alot of time with it. It definitely didn't have the plug-n-play warm midrange articulation of the Walkabout- the DB750 (and apparently the TH500) seems like the more Walkabout-esque Aggie head if that's what your looking for.

Fast and punchy is accurate. Not sure I'd describe the walkabout that way.Walkabout is more old school.

Sorry if this has been covered before, did not find anything on a search. I just bought one of the Noctua NF -R8 fan's to replace the stock fan with. I was expecting the typical red and black and possible yellow wires, but this has 4 (black, yellow, green, blue) for a 4 pin connector.

Did I buy the wrong model, or is this correct. Not sure which of the wires is for power, and which to disregard.

I poked around on Noctua's website and found this in the FAQ for your fan: Link

Just to make sure of the wires being correct I did the 9 volt test to power the fan. Once I confirmed that they were I snipped out the factory fan.

I also ran the factory fan off the 9 volt to see the difference and noticed that the factory fan while being MUCH louder than noctua, was also a bit more powerful. Now I'm a little concerned that the new fan will supply adequate cooling.

Any thoughts?

Speaking of tube rolling, I'm considering changing the tubes in my Walkabout. A friend of mine did a tube kit from Eurotubes for his 400+ and was immensely pleased. I emailed with Eurotubes and they sent me the way of two ECC83S 12AX7s.

Anyone have experience with this particular tubes? Any other suggestions?

If you search, I did a pretty extensive test with both esoteric and common used tubes.
In general terms, V1 is more important than the driver tube and that I like long plates better. There is not a HUGE difference but it is easily discernible in an A/B comparison.
The real question is would you hear this difference in the mix with a bunch of deadbeat musicians making racket!

I did see a few a posts that were spread out through the thread. Sadly, with 8 different parts (soon to be 9), finding information is a bit tricky.

As far as Telefunken and Amperex goes....I sure hope you liked them the best considering the cost. I'm sure they're definitely worth it, but I'm not quite sold on the incentive of investing 2/5s of the cost of my initial cost of the amp into the tube section as you did make a valid point of diminishing returns in discernible tone differences.

So, with V1 being the more influential position, would it be more logical to invest in that specific tube instead of replacing both?

Understandable that you might not want to throw $50 on 1 used tube; if not, I don't think it's worth pursuing unless you can find a long plate National; I have a box of NOS but as I recall they sounded good but were inconsistent and not very well made

hey there fellow WA users, had a question about WA and Bergantino cabs.

I am rethinking my rig a bit and want to beef up my WA option.

I currently have a 4ohm rev 2 WA 12 (silver. black control patches, single input + active/passive switch) and a 4ohm Scout 1x12 extension cab. I just don't feel that it has the goods to deliver clean volume where I need it to be. Also struggling a bit with the "woolly" nature of the WA/Scout cabs under load (without cutting the low end drastically).

So, after reading many posts here about the various non WA/Mesa cabs folks are pairing with their WA, I have decided to go in the Berg direction. I will sell the Scout 1x12 ext cab and then look for my Berg options. I am definitely going to keep the WA 12 combo because I love the simplicity of this rig and the sound it delivers in small/sm-med settings.

My question is, should I just go all in and get a 212 (AE, HD or even the new neo 2x12) and run that with the WA head, or would it work if I just picked up a Berg 1x12 and paired it with the WA 12 (which I would change to 8ohm) ?

I know it typically not the best idea to use unmatched cabs, but has anyone had experience running a WA 12 with a Berg 1x12 ... good, bad, meh ?

Simply put: the more cone area, the cleaner loud volume you're likely to get. In other words, add more speakers for better volume (it can also be ran at 2 ohms, most have done it quite safely).

If your 2x112 thing isn't working, another brand won't either. But adding a 2x12 to your combo might do some good.

I've used mine with WA head & ae212, WA head-AE212 & AE112, WA Scout 12(8 ohm) & AE112.
& separate versions I.e. WA head & either AE cab.
Works well either way.
I'd grab a 4 ohm Berg 212 (or 8 ohm other make I s'pose) - that way u can use the single Scout 12", the 212 by itself, or both-at 2.67 ohms.
I found the Scout cab paired pretty well with a single AE112 too.
The pretty aggressive AE wooly Scout matched ok for me. Hope it was ok in the room:o
Most times DI'd tho:p
