Hey man, do you work for MesaBoogie ?Ok, with the frequency set that low, it will in fact act like a high pass filter because the below centerpoint is of no use to you and above center point will roll up to flat at (I believe, without calculating the Q) about 6dB/octave (pretty shallow). with the cut at -12dB, your -3dB point will be roughly 100Hz. IMO, the slope is pretty shallow, but it may work out just fine for what you are doing. The reason you need to use so much cut is because of the center point and the slope.
By comparison, the Subway HPF is 4th order (24dB/octave) so we can be more surgical and with 12dB down at 30Hz, you would be 3dB down at roughly 50Hz
Yes, he has developed the Subway series.Hey man, do you work for MesaBoogie ?
Sweet, now I know who to message with Mesa questions!Yes, he has developed the Subway series.
yes, Agedhorse is a great Mesa contact, but their artist relation/CS guys also watch the boards (at least they used to).Sweet, now I know who to message with Mesa questions!![]()

DeoxIt. Of course, you'll also want to try another cable to see if the cable is damaged, but you probably just need to DeoxIt.Question to any of my fellow WA owners who might know what's going on with my amp:
Just in the last few gigs, I've inadvertently discovered that when I "jiggle" the 1/4" plug going into the input jack, I get a crackling/popping/staticky sound at the speaker. Thankfully, it doesn't do (hasn't done) this in the middle of a gig (only with direct manipulation of the 1/4" plug at the input jack).
Is this a sign that my input jack might somehow be coming un-soldered from the circuit board, or is it a sign of something more serious?
Thanks for any info!

interesting how different our experiences of the weekend are. friday i played an outdoor gig to a fairly large crowd (6-7k) took the walkabout and 2 swr 115 cabs (added an extra cab because i keep hearing "it's not loud enough" and this was the 1st "big stage i'd played w/it). had the gain at about 12:30 and master at maybe 10:00. was plenty loud, in fact i cut the master a bit because it was too loud.I'm having shoulder surgery this week so, saturday was my last gig for awhile. I took out the walkabout/nv610 rig. The tone was awesome but, due to the wa having much lower headroom than my other amps, the bottom end was a little mushy. I should have used my broughton go filter to get a little more control but, I wanted to see what the amp could really do on its own. So, I'm still in the camp that says the wa is the best sounding hybrid ever, but needs alot more watts.

Take care o' you, my friend! May your recovery and resumption of all things low begin soon .
I used to roll off the Bass control on my WA as much as a quarter of the way sometimes when my '82 L2000 was my main bass, and it still had plenty of bottom for me. That was a great pairing! For the past 2 years I've been using my walkabout with active basses...
Then picked up a 1981 G&l L1000 - and it is so different through the walkabout - the instruments passive bass roll off changes how it works depending what input you use. And the big fat G&L output really seems to unlock a certain Grindyness from the amp - bit of a learning curve. TBH the big bottom end of the walkabout and the big bottom end of the L1000 aren't the best match - but that's why we've got all these tone and ex controls right?![]()
My first bass was an L-2000 and I had no idea just how bass-heavy and high-output those pickups were until I got myself a JB. I've had to re-learn how to set my amp for the J. With the L-2000, I had to leave the gain around 10:00 to avoid overdrive and cut some bass. With My JB, I have the gain around 1:30 and the bass at noon and it's fantastic.I used to roll off the Bass control on my WA as much as a quarter of the way sometimes when my '82 L2000 was my main bass, and it still had plenty of bottom for me.
