Mesa Boogie Walkabout Part 5!!!

Any issues with used ones that I should be aware of? Ive had good luck with my tb brothers here getting used basses but never bought an amp.
Great thread by the way! Ive learned a lot here on TB about my new love the last few hours. What struck me on an a/b comparison w/the little mark iii was how good the fundamental tone is and how "warm and clear" the scout sounded. I play real book stuff usually with traditional non amped instruments (horns vibes drummers with brushes etc) and this has more than enough punch and power for my use.

Older heads that don't have active/passive input select, and don't have fx bypass can have the jacks oxidize and quit working til you clean them.

(I believe that) Chef's point was that in the original style Walkabouts with switching jacks for the input sensitivity (Active and Passive Inputs) and Effects Loop that the contacts on the jacks can oxidize/corrode causing "issues" with the amp cutting out.
Any Mesa Boogie service tech should know how to do the retrofit of the active/passive input switch and install an effects loop bypass switch.
I have an original style Walkabout head and have never (to my knowledge) experienced problems with the input jacks but have cleaned the effects loop jacks once and now have them jumpered with a short instrument cable (because I've been too lazy to clean them again).
Both Walkabout and MarkBass amps sound great...I also own a few MB products and love the differences between them.

Agree, both great and very different. I play a mb combo currently and for my jazz gigs the 150 minimark really excells.

So, these babies still available? The bigger shops in Europe list them as backordered at nearly $2500??? What happened?

IME there's really no real need to send them in for the upgrade-as Chef originally posted waaaay back, spraying a 1/4" plug with DeOxit and reaming them a few times completely remedies any issues. Jumping the FX loop (if not in use) with a short 1/4-1/4 essentially assures the fix. Total cost under 10 bucks for a can of DeOxit and the cable

I had that problem with myolder Walkabout and fixed it exactly this way. Perfectly happy now!

Must be a Europe thing. I just ordered a new Scout 112 combo here in the US (California) and it was still $1,449 (the same price it's been here for at least a year I think). Now just waiting for delivery ...
Opinions please, about a Walkabout / fEarful 15/6 as a standalone rig for modest rock volume shows. This one is 8 ohms using a Kappalite 2515LF. Is the WB 150W going to drive this ok?

IMO-IME the LDS nEarful 15-6 gets about as loud as any good 15 with 165 watts (not very) and really blooms at or above 500 watts. I have accepted that in order to play a loud bar gig without PA support and have headroom using my Walkabout, I need my 212-112 stack or 4 10s. Also FYI the WA is louder through my 4 Ohm Neox 212 than the 8 Ohm LDS 15-6.

Actually a 3015LF, but thank you. This, and Lomo's input, have steered me back to my previous pile o' cab's.BTW Alan, I have your LDS 2-12 2-6 cab here in the test kitchens. I'm waiting for a recone so I can put it through it's paces
