Anyone have a Walkabout headcase or an extension cab they are willing to part with? if so, send me a PM. I just sold my other rig yesterday as I decided to expand my Walkabout rig. I am debating on either ordering an extention cab or possibly a pair of cabs and a headcase but that will cost a small fortune.

Custom jewelry ain't cheap, but your kids will fight over it after your gone:p

before the neo driver price gouging began i replaced the drivers in my WB stack with 3012's "considerably louder" but you have to bump the lows a bit because there is not a ton of lows mixed in to that speaker.. but i will say that they sound superb in the scout cabinets.

I couldn't find the right photo of suit with vest, so this will have to do. I did manage to find the piano tie.

My gig last Saturday night was the first with my Walkabout. My concern was if the amp had enough power for the gig. In the past, I've been using a Mesa M6, Mesa M9 or a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0.

The band is a five piece (electric guitar, keys, horns, drums and four vocalists). We're loud but not stupid loud. I didn't know if after using 900 watt heads, if the 300 watt Walkabout could handle it.

Let me just say, the Walkabout had absolutely no problem with the gig. With the gain at 1:30 and the lows cut a bit, I had the master around noon the whole night. This head rocks!

After using "faster", modern heads (which I still like for certain applications), the Walkabout is a breath of musical fresh air. It just fit in so perfectly with the band.

I think the reason we don't see a more powerful Walkabout is because the magic comes with driving this head. While a high powered head gives you that tight tone because of acres of headroom, the Walkabout gives you that musical tone because of lack of headroom.

I have one other band to try this head with but it looks like it's going to be a keeper.

Cool!
I think the Walkabout works really well with the Sadowsky basses, myself.

Your passive mid is cut *a lot more* than what I do.
Your para bass is cut more than I cut. Maybe you boost at the bass a bit though...?

You're at about the limit of output with your gain structured as you have it; don't expect much more.

Get a Mesa headcase now, and you'll be 100% stylin'. Nice rig!

Thanks for the comments. I have to admit, you're favorable comments on the Walkabout was one the reasons I gave it a try.

I agree on the Sadowsky comment. I had been practicing with a Smith six string leading up to the gig. Then the day before I tried some of the songs with the Sad. It sounded so good, that had to be the bass for the show.

I used the Will Lee mid boost on about half the songs. And I did a slight bass boost on the bass on three or four songs.

I didn't need to take the volume any louder that night so i don't know how close I was to running out of steam. I would think if I needed more (undistorted) volume, I could lower the gain a bit, boost some (mostly upper) mids and up the volume.

During the sound check I had the same setting but with the volume around 1:00. After one song, I got the look from other bandmates that said "this gig isn't going to be one big bass solo!". Damn. :scowl: So I turned it down to about 10:30. ;)
