The 8 ohm 115 combo was the best of the bunch except for size and weight.

I had a 8ohm walkabout and absolutely gigged the hell out of the head.
Always left it in the combo for small gigs and used it different ways for others
1 was hooking up a ampeg 212av for a 2.6 load ( covered lots of ground with this and it sounded great!!)
This was 3 of the same speakers.
Mess had a 8 ohm 2512 and about was loaded with 2 2512 which is a stellar move for that cab!
2 was with a berg ae210 this combo killed!
All the way around these amps are hands down one of my top 5 .
The 15 combo I had was a great vibe as well!
Shout out to the wd800 though,
That is a freaking outstanding amp
Bottom line
Sorry to hijack but I'm a big fan of this amp.

The 8 ohm drivers were based on the DeltaLite 2512 but were different, especially the mid voicing. Since that driver is no longer available, the closest match is the stock 2512, but it is different in both tuning (close enough to work acceptably) and mid voicing. IIRC, the stock driver's upper mid peak was higher on the original driver.

It was early on, not long after I got my first WalkAbout in a Scout 12 radiator. It wasn't long until I started thinking two would be twice as nice. And it was... definitely more something. It was not however what I liked. I could only describe it as dirty hairy, and not the guy thst made my day.

But that stack looked badass. Especially when I had it topped off with a headcase I got from TB'r @Chef way back when.

It just never sounded right until I loaded that same head into the Scout 15 that the WalkAbout really came out. I just played a Christmas Concert last weekend with it.

you know what Andy, I have not actually played my Walkabout through my (somewhat) recently acquired Subway 1x15 (excellent cab!). Doh!
My Walkabout sits in my studio/practice space on top of a Berg sealed NV212t and that's pretty much how I hear it these days. It sounds great thru the Berg for sure, but I need to get off my butt and try the WA with the Subway 1x15. Thanks for the reminder!

The Walkabout sounds great through the SW cabs. My SW 112 (much like my Berg CN212) tends to tame that occasionally unruly low end. If you dial back the lows a tad, the SW 115 makes the WA sound huge without getting the less distinct/blurry-edged note sound of the Scout 15" cabs.

We tested the Subway 115 (x2) with a later model Walkabout when developing the line, it so blew away the Scout cabinets that we knew we were onto something. Just deeper, rounder and more articulate all the way through the midrange. The Scouts are inherently more colored and loose on the low end, which is part of their charm for the players that are looking for this.

For me that was the problem with the Scout cabs...a bit of a looser note presentation from an amp that wasn't exactly producing the laser precision notes to start with, especially in lower mids and lows. I felt like the 12" loaded combo and cabs were a little better, but then you had useable volume limitations.

While all that may sound like I was a WA hater, I still own a WA head and a WA Scout 112 combo. Although admittedly since the arrival of the WD and SW cabs, the WA head and 112 combo see a lot less gig action, a whole lot less!

I'm finding that the players who really like the Walkabouts (amps and combos) are generally playing lower volume gigs or practice/rehearsal applications unless that are using the amps with cabinets like the Subway or Powerhouse.

Different strokes for sure.

The WA Scout 112 combo worked nicely for small venues, stage monitoring,and for more acoustic style music IME. Though the newer SW gear (WD and a SW cab or two) do everything I liked about the WA and more.

The WA is pretty spectacular with a SW 112/115 (4 Ohm combined load), although the WD with those two cabs is even more spectacular IMO.

yeah, since I got a SW 1x15 I have been running it with my WD800 and loving the combination. Now that my gigging calendar is done for the year, I'm going to use some of the holiday down time try out the WA/SW115 combination. I have no doubt that it will sound great, but the "gigging ease" issue will be that my WA, in its very robust Mesa head case, will far outweigh the WD800, and that will make it less attractive as far as gig haulage goes. I also have the same "too heavy" issue with the WA or the WD800 and the excellent Bergantino NV212t. I love the sealed sound of the NV212t with Jim's last run of ceramic drivers, driven by the WA or the WD, but the cab is HEAVY (70lbs ??), and when I'm putting my gear together for a gig, I just don't want to haul that much weight any more ... no matter how good it sounds.

The good news for me is that the lighter weight stuff I have .... WD800, CN112, CN212, and more recently, the excellent SW 115 cab all sound great too.
