+1 to the notion that setting gain and master at noon is about as far as you can go with this little guy. But, what a great sounding amp it is. A bigger cab really lets it shine, even just a good 4 ohm 2x12.

Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout 1x12 combo

Gig Two Report:
Everything was the same as gig one except I put the Scout on an amp stand rather than set it on top of the Schroeder cab. The sound was just a great and I didn't suffer from the low freq sickness. This amp is definately a keeper.

yup it is a sweet amp. had mine for years (112) - and it can also easily do double duty as a guitar amp (which is why I got the 112 instead of the 115)
One thing to note: that head "can" destroy it's own cabinet, at least it can start to tear it apart if maxed. Just go to a used store, check out some of the old walkabouts - the heads are usually in pristine condition (virtually anyways), but the cabs have been abused and speakers can easily be a bit blown.
Generally, I'd say don't run anything at more than 75% of it's max at a constant rate - so definitely get another cab for it. It will probably work for years at 100% but eventually the cab would need an overhaul.
best scenario:
1. for smaller gigs, just use the existing 112 built in cabinet. Save the integrity of the small 112 for those smaller gigs and it will continue to be tight and awesome.
2. for larger gigs, take the head out of it's box, and get a mesa 2x12 on wheels. or whatever turns your crank - at 300w it can easily drive a 4x12 and would be absolutely awesome!
you can pick up a padded bag made for the head for around $75.

I usually would use my Titan v12 for most gigs, however I did use my 112 WA, with a 112 WA extension cab at an outdoor gig once and it kicked ass! We were loud too, guitar player used a Marshal Amp and drummer hits hard. Most WA are 4ohms, mine is an 8ohm, that's why I purchased the matching extension cab. The sound man used the DI on the back of the amp. We had a guest sax player come jam with us and his words were, ..."is your bass sound coming through those two small speakers? Man that's amazing!" This set up is awesome for clubs where you have to climb up a lot of stairs.
I was playing at a big festival on a huge stage with a buddies Mesa 112 Scout. Well I was supposed to but the previous band blew the speaker to hell. Obviously, it's speaker is super easy to blow out. It's just a little too expensive for the volume. I've played another out at a small gig with a friend's band and it really sounded good and professional. Still, with the neo, V2s and V3 type options out now they're slightly dated. How did they come up with that price for a 112 cab anyway when you consider the price of the head?

+1. Ha! I'd love to see the 1x12" cab and amp setup that could give a reasonable stage volume with any amp in a festival environment without being tilted directly in the bassists face.
Finally got one of these after waiting years for one to pop up second hand. I knew they sounded amazing because I got to try one out at a rehearsal space few years back. This may be swearing in church but I prefer the tone and dynamics to my old B15. It has a tube vibe for sure but with this extra 'umf' that cuts through. Looking forward to try it with an extra cab..
A B15 doesn't have a whole lotta "oomph" on tap, so it makes sense. If you said the same about an SVT (comparable wattage to a Walkabout) then you might hear scepticism!

Yea point taken. Don't get me wrong I think the B15 has oomph but the characteristics of the tone and feel of the scout are something else. 
In my 15 years of Walkabout use and tone tweaking, I feel like I have been able to get a very bouncy, touch responsive, just on the edge of breakup kind of thing with my Walkabout ... very similar to what a B15 does (at least when I use one of those). To be clear, I don't want/need for the Walkabout to "sound like a B15", it has its own lovely voice for sure ... but it's not from another planet as far as tone impact goes. This, of course, is IMO/IME."oomph" is the better spelling!
The Scout cabs a cool, I still have my 12" Scout around here somewhere, but I feel like there is so much more to be gotten out of the Walkabout with a bit bigger, better cabs with more (efficient) drivers too. I think the Scout cabs have pretty modest efficiency. In my case these other cabs have all been Berg cabs (CN112, CN212, NV212t, NV610) ... but I know many folks on this WA Megathread use any number of cabs with their WA with great results. FWIW, these days I am totally digging the sealed cab vibe with my Walkabout (and WD800 when needed) ... such a great combination!
