Mesa boogie walkabout scout cab

Hi everyone,

So, yesterday i had a gig, used my walkabout scout 12 and i wish i had a bit more power...
I really like this combo, dont want to change or anything, im just wondering if anyone used it coupled with an extra scout bass radiator 12?
I read the megathread and know it can work at 2 ohms, im just wondering how it sounds like that and if its a better idea to get the 4 ohms or 8 ohms?

It is absolutely killer. I have a Scout 112 combo with the extension cabinet and it is all I need. Mine are both 4 ohm cabs and the head runs at 2 ohms with a problem.

Hopefully I will have some gig pics of it soon, not just pics in the dining room....lol

Search the Walkabout megathread. You are far better off with an ext cab than changing your 12 to 4Ohms. The head will run happily even at 2 Ohms, so adding a 4 OHm ext cab would be a the best option IMO, as you'd have 3 cab configurations.

I used my Scout 12 at a practice a few days ago, and was also a bit underwhelmed with the single 12". I use a 4 ohm 2x12 as an alternative, but rarely, (if ever), combine the Scout 12 with the 212. Now, if I had a single 12 or 15 ext, that would be different. But using a 4 ohm 2x12 with just the head, is a perfect set-up, and doesn't require running the WA @ 2 ohms, (even though it will, it does get hot).

I use my 4ohm Walkabout 12 combo with a 4ohm Scout 15 with great results. The addition of the 15 adds the expected extra volume you'd expect from another driver, but also adds a very complimentary depth the WA 12.

With the 2 Player Control equipped cabs, you can also so some nice things with the crossovers ... i.e. set the WA to cross at 3k with a bit of push on the tweet attenuator for great upper mid and highs articulation, and set the Scout 15 to cross at 5k (full), and flat or slight cut on the tweet, for a full range, deep punchy tone.

Up to you ultimately. I use a Berg AE112 & a Mark Bass HR151 & I LOVE the mix of the 12 & 15. I like it more than the 2 12"s I had previously. But many say not to use drivers of differing sizes. So - up to you to try & see if U can. I reckon a Mesa WA 12 & Mesa WA 15" would work well together. Check the sensitivty of each cab- I pretty much matched mine & they work well- IMO

Hi,
Well i just picked up the extra cab, and its great!
The new cab sounds fuller even on its own, not sure if its because it has a bigger passive radiator on the bottom or if its because there is more empty space inside but its sounds fuller and has more bass!
Using both of them doesnt create a massive volume boost at lower volume but it sounds fuller... (meaning, if i plug one, play, then add the second one without changing master and gain its not really louder!)
Hopefully it will go louder when pushed a little but i cant do it now, my neighbour is going to kill me!
Next time i have a gig that needs both cabs i will let you guys know what i think....
