Mesa M6 Carbine Mega Thread part 3:

I've heard of fast customer service, but that over-qualifies.

Excellent!!!!

That's not a problem I've seen noted here for either M6 or M9, I don't believe...

I know... this must be some kind of customer service record. Although, they did turnaround an m-pulse 600 repair for me in two days a few years ago.

Of course it helps tremendously to live 15-20 minutes from the factory and over the years, and I've gotten to know some of the folks that work at Mesa. But, they know I'm just a weekend warrior and nobody special; yet, this level of customer service just rocks my world.

I've never had or heard of a shorted out mosfet either... it must've been just a fluky thing.

I just got a call from Mesa (less than 24 hours from when I dropped off my Fathom/M6) saying that they had finished repairs on my amp.

:bassist:

The problem? A shorted out mosfet. They also performed the upgrades... I'm stoked!

:hyper:

Got my M9 back today and it said the same thing - shorted mosfet. They also gave mine the upgrade treatment, so hopefully it doesn't happen again :)

I'm confused here...you have both an early M6 Fathom and an M9 Carbine, and the MOSFET issue was with the M9? And no issues with the Fathom? Crazy for sure!

'Tis correct. Been using the Fathom the entire time in the practice room at moderate volumes - the M9 actually blew in the same practice room under the same usage conditions. Made it about 2 30-minute sets, and this was the first time ever for it outside the studio or my basement. Weird indeed.

Has anyone noticed a change in the start-up click(s)? Prior to sending my M6 in for repair/updates, when I turned it on, there would be a click (something all my mesa heads have done). Now (post repair), when I turn it on, there are two clicks.

The amp sounds great (maybe even better), but I noticed the double click and was just curious.

I dropped my M9 off at the retailer last week and am hoping they don't take too long in sending it in to have the upgrades done. I had asked for a replacement amp if at all possible as the turn around time from Canada will be considerable but I wanted the upgrades done to my early M9 just to be safe.

Well I have similar problem with my MESA Fathom (M6). I also have WA combo and never had problem with it but friend of mine has this "no volume or "light on but no sound" on his WA head also. I found Mesa products are very sensitive for "bad power" ...I mean "low voltage". I live in EU/Czech rep. and have this problem on open air gigs. Low voltage is common issue on open air gigs becouse sound mans usualy use long wires for power and there is lot of power hungry devices lights etc. So I'm (and my friend too) first musician on stage who has problem becouse very very sensitive Mesa. Other amps and combos on stage works but not fine ...musician from band I play with complain they had strange tone or little less power but Mesa is "going down" quickly.
The power is going up and down like in slow waves...on some places where power is too low M6 is switching to emergency mode and there is no sound just light on on my amp.
Well I bought power stabilizator and problem was gone but my stabilizer is simple it has three modes and if is in "normal mode" 210-230V and power is bad cca 210V I can feel cca 30% power drop even with stabilizer. My english is not good enought to call to Mesa and solve this problem and also it's impossible to send my amp to US becouse it'll cost me too much money. Well if somebody will find some solution I'll be happy to know it.
I love these amps and I don't want to sale them even it will cost me big money to buy good power stabilizer. Guys don't forget you ned power stabilizer not power conditioner! (for example 80-130V input/120V output for USA; 160-250V input/230V output for EU)

my stabilizer I use now: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=374022&page=2

I don't have problem with my WA combo becouse i use it just inside and 90% of time in clubs where I play very often...so I think there is good power in these clubs becouse my Fathom is nicy in these places too...thanks for any comments or help W.

:eyebrow:

Well... I continue to experience Fathom/M6 weirdness: last night at rehearsal, I hooked everything up, tuned up and then hit the mute pedal (mesa EQ control, plugged into the mute jack in the back), only to find that it did not work. So, tonight before I head out to a gig, I take the pedal apart to check the soldering... which looked ok. Then went to check the other voice control options to see if they worked. What I discovered is that the mute/EQ control pedal only works when I'm touching the front aluminum rim of the SKB two space case my Fathom lives in. It's only the front rim... I touch the back rim and nothing. Touch the front, mute works.

Now, if you ask me, that's weird!
