Mesa M9 Carbine Power Reduced?

Yeah but you have to flip the toggle at the back to make it suitable for 2 Ohm operation.....user error???

i have run my M9 at 2 ohms with no issues at all ..It lives in a 4 space rack .. mostly at 4 ohms though.. just flip the switch on the rear of the unit
OK, my curiosity got the best of me, so I ordered a new M9 from Sweetwater this past Thursday. Arrived yesterday, gigged with it last night.
If there has been any sort of power reduction, I certainly couldn't tell.
It performed flawlessly. Running through my F215, it just slammed. Clear, girthy, tons of "heft" behind every note. It just "felt" and sounded fantastic.
Reliability? Longevity? Well, obviously only time will tell. Right now, I'm a happy camper.

What i love about the M9is the Girth of the tone.. It lays down that nice pillow underneath the note point...

I've been jonesing for a F212 similar to yours (2-way, but with Faital Mid).
It's a shame that composite stuff was bad for MikeA's health.

As a Carbine lover, I'm happy this has been sorted out. When I sent my 2nd M9 in for repair, the tech was very courteous but flatly denied any pattern or unusually high frequency of failures which seemed (to me) flatly ridiculous and impossible in light of the collective TB experience. The Carbine and Walkabout are my favorite flavours of clean and gritty. 600 Carbine watts is still more than I'll ever need and for me, the eq and musical compressor are worth the extra. I guess this means the M6 never suffered from the same problems that plagued the M9, so a used M6 even without mods should be good to go.

+1 on the M6. I hate to be cynical, but my guess is they dialed down the M6 (or maybe even just reporting lower power now in the marketing specs) so they can still say the M9 is the 'more powerful and full featured alternative' upgrade to the M6.
Poorly handled, but I'm with you... I don't know why, but that M6 power section is just amazing. Through the typical 212 or 410 or 215 rig or whatever, I would doubt that you could drive the original M9 hard enough without driver damage to hear any difference between the old and new.
