Mesa M9 mega thread

The Carbine is about as big a departure from "their tone" as it gets and their cabs are voiced much more for their "signature" tone, IMO. So yeah. Makes sense. :lol:

You are EXACTLY RIGHT.

I'd tried a bunch of their heads in the past and they were just not at all my sound. I was elated when they finally came out with the Carbine series because they'd finally built an amp I loved. :)

Well, ok, I gotta' qualify it with one... I always did like the Walkabout too... just didn't have enough power for all my gigs is all.

I bought the carbine m9 last month and I'm more than happy with it. I've always been a fan of Ampeg stuff but there's no comparison with Mesa (apart maybe my svt-cl US made).
The quality of this amp is amazing even though I haven't found the kind of sound I'm looking for yet...

Today I picked up an M9 and Powerhouse 210. Got a great deal on both since they were sitting in the music store for the last year and the amp had some scratches on the top ('Voice' graphic is totally rubbed off). The cab is in tip top shape though, and since my 5 year warranty starts today, I'm not too worried about getting a 'demo' model amp, especially for what I paid for it.

I really love this thing! I get a bit of white noise from it though due to a year's worth of dust inside (I'll give it a cleaning in a few days). The preamp alone is impressive; I played through some headphones for a bit. Very nice to get two distinct tones with the foot pedal too. I played through the cab a bit as well; punchy and loud, even at 450w (8ohm).

No. 315! I think it has the upgrade too, at least it has the vents up top.

Congrats! Getting a 'deal' on an essentially new M9 is rare. I'll bet its awesome!

I'd recommend that if you plan on running your M9 at 2 ohms, you make sure you have one built to current spec, with the vented top cover, and second internal fan.
