Mesa M9 mega thread

when in 4-space, the M9 runs just a little warmer in 2ohm; when in 2-space, it runs noticeably warmer in 2ohm

I realize this is an M9 thread, but I gigged with the M6 Carbine again tonight and wanted to report in.

In short ..... all I can say is .... :eek: ... :hyper: !!!

I used Chef's suggestion and settled on Voice 3 and cut the mids to 10 o'clock. (at least that's what I remembered) Bass at noon, treble at 11 o'clock. It worked famously ...all night long! We were playing everything from Usher to Bruno Mars to Marvin Gaye and George Benson. One of the other musicians wasn't looking when I plugged in, tuned up and dialed it in. He simply turned to me and said; your bass sounds GREAT tonight. ... He didn't even know I had a different amp.

I noticed the low end quickness, punch and slam that support the fundamental low notes and the midrange complexity was there too. Maybe not quite as much upper midrange as my LMII, but plenty nonetheless.

We were not all that loud either. So I was concerned about the amp sounding good at low volumes. Gig test proved that is not an issue. Granted, this amp will shine even brighter when I get to turn it up a little. But what a GREAT gig test.

So now I have to decide whether the M6 will keep me smiling or whether I want the added flexibility of the M9's Graphic EQ and compressor. Didn't really need them tonight. But you never know. Hmmmm

Just had to report in. This is a KILLER amp. So glad I got to try it out at a gig that was very packed and jumpin! :p

Yeah, I LOVE my micro heads, but they just aren't going to be able to have the same kind of dynamic behavior as the traditional designs. If I have a gig where I need to go big, I don't just add more small. The M9 comes out of the bat cave and "settles it". 'nuff said. :)

Really, they're pretty similar. Both have big whomping lows (that can be tweaked out if that's not your thing), and extended shiny treble (again, tweakable).

Can't really comment specifically on mids as I haven't sat down and done an in depth a/b with each head playing thru the same cab; but neither is lacking there, which is why I ditched the SL900...

I'd expect the M9 to hit harder at huge volumes, but I haven't had that sort of job with the MB-F yet.

DANGITT! I KNEW I shoulda' +1'd that post... then I'd get at least one of those beers... hindsight... argh... :)

Is it too late to say I also use that SKB for my M9 and love it? :)

Well for what its worth Ive been chatting with the seller since yesterday but, what the heck-beers on me.So heck no it aint too late.Lets do it!!:D
