Mesa M9 mega thread

The only disadvantage to the M9 (and M6 for that matter) IMO is the master volume taper... they go from quiet to "LOOK AT ME!" in a matter of millimeters. Worry not, you will never be lacking in volume :)

I like to describe it as going from "off" to "where the &*%$ are my earplugs" in 5 degrees of rotation:p I've learned to finesse it and am used to it, but if you want to have the taper changed, an amp tech can easily do it.

That is the steet price. Mesa has a set pricing policy and dealers are not allowed to discount the price. I've tried several times...never successfully. About the best one can do is buy out of state and save sales tax.

HI

Got lucky and found my M9 used at the local Mesa dealer. Guy had gigged it about 5 times. Sale included a rack bag, footswitch, the remainder of the 5 year warranty plus the previous owner had guitar cables and a speakon cable with it! Got it all for just over $900. Sold my Tfunk to fund most of it. No regrets!. About the "widest" amp Ive gigged in my life and Ive tried most great amps

I loved the Thunderfunk when I had one; and I had both 420 and 550 models.

There really aren't words for how much the M9 kills the Thunderfunk.

I had the 550/switch and then for a short time, I owned the 750A thermal monster. Yeah, you could pretty much fry an egg on that thing after a set. Forget even trying to rack it with other stuff. No way. Couldn't sell it fast enough. I liked how "quick" the TFB was, but never got over how it just always sounded like there was a veil in front of my rig.

Well, now I gotta say: Dave is a really nice guy.
(it was funny though!)

I'm with you on the 750 thing though. Bad deal.

I actually liked the 420 better. The 550 seemed like a down grade in tone, and even in power...

No worries though; "M9."

Still searchin brutha!I still have the 15/6/1 here.I like alot about it but no love affair as a match with the M9.Im demo'ing some Jacks this weekend.

I was at a crossroads-different amp or different cabs.The dragon stays.
