Yes (at levels that push lower-powered amps).

There are certain advanced power-management circuits that mitigate this to a certain degree (I'm thinking TC Electronic & some of Genz Benz amps), but in general this is correct.

Just checking in to say I just can't find any excuse to not bring the suitcase nuke to ANY gig or rehearsal. Yes, a GB Shuttle 6.0 is a lovely tiny thing, but I think I like my pet dragon a little better. That is what being spoiled is...

To those who are considering various 410 cabs, I suggest finding a 4 ohm Epifani UL1 410 or UL2 410. Chef, thoughts?

The UL can take a whipping real nicely

It does have a mid scoop thang going on, but I play basses with big nasty single coil-age, so that works for me.

I guess the reason I don't notice any scoopy-thangs in that cab is that I too am using instruments that don't lack low mids.

I either run a SingleCoil passive Jazz (MIM RW with DR Lo-riders) on Voice 3 with a bit of carbine bass added, a the Sadowsky P/J (with bright nickels) on V3 with the on-board pre close to flat but the VC rolled off about 30% (sometimes run the GEQ in a low/high cut shape), or the Valenti on V5 with the bridge Fatstack favored (sporting Ken Smith Slickwounds).

In the Sadowsky thread, someone posted a pic of Will Lee's rig.
His graphic eq was basically a lightly done frowny face:
lows and highs cut a tad; and, low mids, mids, low highs boosted a tad.

I tried this with both Voice 3 and Voice 2, and, I gotta say, I liked it.,
{production note: when I use voice 2, I trim shelving bass and treble a bit, and boost passive mids a bit anyway, so, the graphic is basically mimicing that, to an extent}

That is Exactly how I use my Mesa Carbine.

Yeah, he's ALL about mids. I tried one of his signature models and it was actually too much for me with the mid booster engaged unless I really tamed down the gain.

My M9 came in yesterday and I got to test it at a gig last night. It was glorious! Matches up with my double ph212 rig perfectly. I'll post a pic this weekend. I get to play two more gigs this weekend with it and I am very excited. Now I just need covers for my cabs and my rig is complete. Any suggestions?

Get the Mesa ones. Work great for me and you KNOW they fit!
With the PH cabs being so deep it's better safe than sorry.

It's an Audix F14. I found a latin percussion clamp in my drummer's box of goodies to clamp it and it works perfectly.

I typically run input at noon, and master at about 9 oclock.
