Mesa Subway 1-12 or Schroeder 12PL?

I have an MPulse Walkabout 300w Amp. I have the Scout combo, and want to add an extension speaker. So I need to buy a 8ohm for my combo and a 8 ohm cab. Don't know whether to say with Mesa Eminence speakers or go with B&C which Schroeder uses. Any recommendations?

I gig regularly with a WA Scout 8 ohm combo plus an 8 ohm extension cab. Here are my thoughts . . .

Because the Scout cabinet uses both a port and a passive radiator, matching the driver to the cab would seem to be even more important than usual. (and it's always important) The factory original 8 ohm driver is no longer available at the Mesa online store, but the standard Eminence Deltalite 2512-2 is apparently an acceptable substitute. This was discussed at length on the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread part 10, most recently on pages 260 and 261.

I'd recommend getting your Scout squared away first, then look for an extension cab which will work well together.

The 8 ohm DeltaLite-2 2512 is a better performer than the original 4 ohm (especially the DeltaLite 1), but this cabinet was developed before the series 2 driver. The 8 ohm version was a -2 type and because of this that are in fact louder in spite of drawing less power from the amp.

The Subway 112 is reasonably compatible with the 8 ohm Scout cabinets, it's not going to be perfect (or as even as 2 x Subway 112's) because the tuning is different. Passive radiator cabinets behaves little differently than ported cabinets because of the mass of the resonant diaphragm versus the air mass in the port.

If yours is the 4 ohm version with the series 1 driver, the first thing to do is to update it with the series 2 version at 8 ohms. Then IF you need to add another cabinet, the Subway will be much more appropriate as a pairing.

Hope this helps.
