That would fit nicely into a Walkabout Scout v2.0, just sayin'. ;-)

It would need to be significantly smaller than the D-800, no doubt. Possible a similar feature set but there's not the room to add features. Of course it would need to be less expensive along with lower power but this also opens up the possibility of eliminating the fan.
Your comments have been both enlightening and helpful
Volume or side lengths?Say 20-25% smaller overall.
Estimated volume in cubic inches... unless you are from a metric country and then it would be in cubic centimeters.Volume or side lengths?
For the non mathematical, a 9% reduction in side lengths gets a 25% reduction in volume.

Don't know anything for sure, but I would hope abouy 25% smaller than a D-800What is the size of the subject of this thread, the D 350 versus a current D 800?

I am guessing from the knobs and whatnot, they're about the same size.
I thought the D-350 was smaller
I wasn't referring to this new dream machine you kids are now talkin' about

I don't know why I'm worried about this, I'm happy with my WD-800.
Don't need less power![]()
I don't think a 25% volume reduction would be significant without a good price advantage to go with it.
3 main markets as I see it. Newbies, giggers wanting imo plenty enough watts and all the goodies, and backup amp carrying 800 users. Pick 2.
The D-350 in the picture is just a one-off proof of concept piece, the size is somewhat arbitrary on that.Elf has a lot to answer for in the inflated expectations to put Mesa tone and reliability into something more like 75% reduced volume, at a guess.

25% reduction could be 25% shorter or less deep or a combination, 30% - 40% may even be possible but I really don't know. It depends.
Compared with the ELF, there would be more features, including dual SpeakOns and our standard DI section, so it couldn't possible be that small... and almost twice the power too. To expect that would be unrealistic IME.
Idle question, and I can imagine you might not be able to or allowed to answer it: What is Mesa's minimum required feature set for a bass amp? In the sense of, if these particular features or performance specs aren't included, it's not something that Mesa is willing to manufacture.Compared with the ELF, there would be more features, including dual SpeakOns and our standard DI section, so it couldn't possible be that small... and almost twice the power too. Good question... it seems that a single speaker jack was not well accepted by the TalkBass crowd in other products and was considered a necessary feature for some players.@agedhorse Silly question here. Why dual SpeakOns? Especially since we have the ability to daisy chain cabinets. I know the space required for duals is probably insignifiant in the guts, but the real estate they would occupy on the rear panel is, spatially. I would happily accept one SpeakOn if it would make the amp significantly smaller. I don't think I've ever had two SpeakOns connected to my amp (other than when I first got it and was in the experimental stage).
but it would seem more folks would prefer a D-350 ampI wonder if we're not past that now, given the space consideration and Quilter is doing it?Good question... it seems that a single speaker jack was not well accepted by the TalkBass crowd in other products and was considered a necessary feature for some players.
