Mesa Subway D-350!

I would easily shell out $1500-1700 for a Walkabout Scout v2.0, but I'm a 51 year old with a mortgage stuck in 1997 or so.

For Mesa quality and support, I don't think such a combo would be unreasable at $1199 MSRP. For that quality of a combo I would almost consider going for that first! Ohhh decisions decisions!
Two, two sales on board!

I did discuss the thoughts of a combo, but the cost of a small combo would place it at the top of the market which might be a bigger challenge.
Instead of a combo that houses/contains an amp, how about a "bracketed" combo in the style of Genz Benz and Genzler? Genz Benz had a bracket that allowed attachment of a Shuttle head to a cabinet. Genzler continues the tradition.

"The MG-350 cradle is a bracket that is designed to attach the Magellan® 350 amplifier to a cabinet. Each BA10-2 cabinet has 6 pre-drilled mounting screws installed into the top which can be easily removed to mount the cradle. 2 thumb screws are included to secure the amplifier into the cradle."

I have one of these for my home rig and it's ok, but unlike a combo there's no place to tuck the power or speakon cable and then the handle is in an odd place relative to the balance. It works, but possibly less convenient than a separate head and cab combination.

Yep :)
Not trying to discourage anyone but, I like the head in the bag over my shoulder with the bass and my 1x12 cab by the handle, grab and go thing I've been doing :)

Maybe split the difference and have the head socketable onto the top of the cab? Not like the Quilter Docker cabinets, more like a dent on top of cab for the amp to nestle into, or holes or magnets for the amp's feet to connect to. If nothing else, it'd help stabilize a lightweight head without needing extra hardware.

hi folks :)

Interesting thing spotted......

Interesting thread!!!

So, do you guys have any thoughts or comments?

I like the idea of a Mesa "low watt" amp! :D
Driving a pair of nice cabs with "only" 350W can tear the drummer's head off :hyper::hyper::hyper:

even when they are not "all tube" watts! ;)

IMO there is a market for that.

And I think a 350+ or a WD350 would be even better.

A hpf is a must! And a tube won't hurt :D (except maybe the price for some?:()

I would love to see a WD350!!! (with all the bells and whistles :D)

But I think that only reducing the watts won't reduce the costs enough to get the right price.

IMO the price will be the deciding factor (so maybe a "350+" will be the right version)

Maybe skip the tuner/ out, the aux/ in and have only one SpeakOn for the cab(s)?

The XLR DI out with pre/ post and ground/ lift has to stay of course

as well as the hpf and the Eq section.

No compromises when it comes to sound!

just my thoughts

What are you implying? GK is not quality? People pay twice the cost of a Sadowsky for a Fodera. So what?

Based on what I've had from GK, no, it's not the same level of quality as Mesa. There is a market for quality. A Squier or Rumble is good enough, but it isn't the same level of quality.

Agreed to a point. Quality sometimes may mean reliability too. My GK amps have been running flawlessly for years. I don't see a lot of posts about GK failures on TB. Not to get flamed, but I feel the GK's offer a bit more than the Rumbles, but to each their own. I know there are a lot of happy Rumble owners here. For myself I would love to own a quality micro Mesa head. Fingers crossed!
