To repeat, it's not just the cost. There would have to be a significant size difference and would have to address those who really need a fanless amp. Also targeted to those who have cabinets that have a much lower power handling rating than what would be suitable for a higher powered amp.

That was established very quickly in the thread. Then the ''but feature make it bigger'' was raised and I think pretty settled.+1 As someone who owns both the D-800 and a D-350 prototype, the size difference is not that significant, nor would the street price be half the price (I believe). The D-800 is pretty darned compact, pretty darned light, and very affordable, IMHO. So I would think that to be a viable addition to the lineup, it would have to be a good bit smaller, or a good bit less expensive.
I think Mesa stands behind its stuff. You may have to pay out of pocket for any repairs, if needed but, It would be worth it!I think because it was priced as a “collectors item”.
Now it’s priced at actual value for a new amp with warranty.
It’s still a used amp and I don’t know if there would be any product support should it need service.

I still think they'd help a brother or a sister out on thisI want to make it clear that I understand that Mesa is known for excellent product support.
This is a “prototype that got away”. I’m not sure what the support would be in that specific situation. That’s all!
I think they would probably be eager to look after it at least as well as any other out of warranty regular supply chain amp. They might even be EXTRA interested to find failure modes in a prototype.I still think they'd help a brother or a sister out on this
No reason not to as they built it. Probably know who this is.
About product support-- that's a good question for @agedhorse .I think because it was priced as a “collectors item”.

That sounds pretty hot! I wonder what the price would be. Hard to imagine an 800 watt ICE that's fanless. Then Agedhorse came up with a tentative proposal of a new fanless ''small D800'' which is a bit smaller than your 350.
I don't know how that would be handled, though since the product was never sold by Mesa I can't see how it would be covered under warranty. Without a sales receipt, it would under the best of terms fall under 5 years from the date of manufacture but it was never manufactured and the prototypes were hand built one-offs from over 5 years ago.About product support-- that's a good question for @agedhorse .![]()

I would guess (that's all I can do at this time) is that we may try to repair it at the out of warranty service rate.
It would be hard to imagine, certainly at 2 ohms and much smaller than the current D-800.
That's what I was thinking. Under warranty no, but repaired at owners expense sure.I don't know how that would be handled, though since the product was never sold by Mesa I can't see how it would be covered under warranty. This is just a guess, not a guarantee. That's what I was thinking. Under warranty no, but repaired at owners expense sure.
Nothing's guaranteed but death and taxes. This is just a guess, not a guarantee.
Smaller box less wattage fanless with similar feature set was what I was driving ar.That sounds pretty hot! I wonder what the price would be. Hard to imagine an 800 watt ICE that's fanless.
Agreed.Smaller box less wattage fanless with similar feature set was what I was driving ar.
