So far my pedals have not improved on the tonal character of my D-350. At best, a tube pre has rounded the treble's slight edge, but nothing yet has improved its mix-friendly mids and well tuned bass.Mine is on the way. For those who own the D350, what's the best way to overdrive this so I can get to heavy metal territory.
They can be. @agedhorse has commented that for example they had to exclude the deep switch which is on the D350’s big brothers (D800 and D800+) because it would have made a fan necessary.Side note: played a medium loud gig last night using the D-350 at a 4ohm load. (two 8 ohm cabs). Truly, this thing never got warm.
It begs the question, are fans really necessary in a well designed amp?

...you gotta love auto-correct/auto-suggest...although better proofreading might be helpful!I think the usual term for that is "pre-amp"![]()
I don't have one, I jumped the gun and bought a WD before the D350 had been conceivedCongratulations on the new head! When Chef and I originally wrote about our early experiences with the prototype heads we thought people might wonder if we'd become mindless Mesa fanboys, drank some magic cool-aid, or had just lost our objectivity.
The D-350 is the biggest surprise of all the SW heads IMO. It looks like a tiny afterthought kind of design that might have trouble being heard over normal conversation and could easily get lost in a medium sized gig bag. However, it's build quality and performance are equally as impressive as anything in the Mesa SW line...it's a pro head specifically designed to meet a unique set of requirements/wants (including a very compact size and passive thermal management (i.e. no fan)) that the other SW products didn't address.
Some even wonder if the D-350 had come out first if it might not have been the sales leader over all the excellent follow-on offerings in the line. It really is that good IME and most every review I see tends to reflect that same sentiment and element of surprise.![]()
And not a square box. Staggered vertically. It would be glorious. But it would probably have to cost 3K. Ouch.I'll sit tight and wait for a subway 412
Congratulations! Good buy. With the factory warranty and Sweetwater warranty and easy to deal with customer service to boot. Not that you’ll need them…Just bought the demo D-350 at Sweetwater. Gonna hook it up to my little Ampeg bxt210m when it gets here. I'll let you all know how it shakes out. Really, I wanted it for the aux-in & headphone-out though. I can jam away all night while everyone else is asleep. So stoked!
I almost bought that one. I can't believe it's still there tbh....
What advantages would the D-350 have over the WD-800 to you?I don't have one, I jumped the gun and bought a WD before the D350 had been conceived
The thing that trips me out on the D350 is, how many folks are using them with an 8ohm speaker and enjoying it at gig level volumes. It's only putting out 175 watts. Apparently a Strong 175 watts.

I’m sure Deej is saving up for one as we type. But his WD will always be his first love. What advantages would the D-350 have over the WD-800 to you?
None currently. What advantages would the D-350 have over the WD-800 to you?
The Funk Box in question...None currently.
I would have paired it with my lower-watt cabinets like my 200-watt Eden CX 110 or my 300-watt Aguilar GS 112.
But I found I could run the WD @ 2 ohms and the amp would produce 300 watts. So that was useful for the Aguilar and I gave up on worrying about the Eden 110 as I did get a Subway 115.
I had thought about the D350 vs the SW 115. For portability I thought the Eden 110 and the 350 would be good but found the Eden 110 was only 10 lbs. lighter than the SW 115, and the SW 115 was 10 lbs. lighter than the Aguilar GS 112 that I was going to continue to use. I couldn't pass up on the fire power of the SW 115 and this was probably the last time I would spring for a brand new complete rig so, I'm good now.

Nope, sorryI’m sure Deej is saving up for one as we type. But his WD will always be his first love.
But you know you want that D350. Yes. I’m a professional enabler.None currently.

Nope not interested in the D 350.But you know you want that D350. Yes. I’m a professional enabler.
Well, there you Go!Nope not interested in the D 350.
The D 800 + is another matter.

Nope I like the WD tubey goodness as is. It gets me my fantasy B-15 tones I like.Well, there you Go!
But don’t you want to experience the two channel tubey goodness of the TT800?
I’ll stop now. Move along, move along.
It depends. It’s all about power density (power per cubic inch or centimeter of amplifier displaced volume), and the minimum load the amp operates into.Side note: played a medium loud gig last night using the D-350 at a 4ohm load. (two 8 ohm cabs). Truly, this thing never got warm.

So does this mean that if I had a 20-watt class-D amp the size of my spare bedroom, it would run so cool I could use it as my home's A/C system? It depends. It’s all about power density (power per cubic inch or centimeter of amplifier displaced volume), and the minimum load the amp operates into.
