Mesa Subway D-800 stolen. Replacement bought.

So last night someone lifted my 4 year old D800 from the back seat of my car. I never thought that I would be the victim of theft in this quiet south Austin neighborhood.
I really loved the sound of that amp.
So, I looked it up on the internet and found one online at Strait Music.
The folks there gave me an insanely large discount.
Props to the guys at Strait Music.
I feel a little better.
I bought it without even testing it because the price was so excellent.
I have a gig on Saturday and will report.

Sorry about your amp.

Things were stolen from my car twice in Westgate area. But both times I forgot to lock the doors, so...

Did they have a WD-800 in stock? I haven't been to the new location.

Very sorry to hear that!! I'm in far south Austin. AKA..San Antonio!!! A friend just got his one of a kind Fender signature bass made for him stolen from his truck. If you see this in any pawn shop please hollar!!

No such thing in Austin per my friends that live there. It's much the same as here in San Jose where the drug addicts search cars in the early morning hours. They usually work in teams of 3. Two for each side of the street, and a driver.

sadly i think this is the case in any metropolitan city.

From my experience, I see this problem mainly in cities that have lax policing and criminal prosecution. That behavior wouldn't last long where I live now. Too dangerous for the thief. They would hope the police get em first.

I really hope the OP gets his amp back. I would bet it shows up in the typical places where stolen gear is sold. Worth a look.

Kind of freaking but……….

When we unload and load back our stuff, we always make sure one guy stays at the car (or truck) while another guy brings the gears in the bar and another one stays in the bar.
And when I bring a backup bass, I bring it on stage and put it on a stand in order we can see it at all times.

And when we have to go to the restroom, it’s one guy at a time making sure at least one of us has a look at our stuff.

It’s almost insane to have to do so but that’s where it’s at nowadays.

I don’t care that much about an amp but if one of my customized bass I really enjoy would get stolen, I would be EXTREMELY mad !

Thinly veiled political commentary right there. But I had plenty of experience with Travis and Williamson County LE as a kid and I can tell you they aren’t lax. Some of those guys wear mirrored sunglasses with the mirrors on the inside.

Strait Music - I bought my Yamaha BB1600 there in ‘89, when they still had their store at ~10th & Lamar. Great company, an ATX institution!

OP - sorry about your amp. I had a contractor run off with my Mesa 1x15; he took it right out of my garage after he saw me unload it from the moving truck one day. It’s a feeling of being violated.
