Mesa Subway D-800+

I know. I was more concerned about the load these cabinets present and their comparative inefficiency. I have had no problems with the Class D power amps that drive them currently.
IME and given what I know about Andy's focus on delivering only pro quality products, the SW series amps are designed, tested and built to consistently deliver their rated power without a problem. I have not experienced or heard of anyone having shut-down probelms with SW heads even when driven hard in hot environements. However, if you have concerns about running at the limit and want to be sure, I would just PM Andy and get his advice.

The margins at ~3 ohms (especially ~1.5 ohm load when paralleled) places additional stress on the power amp.

While there is substantial protection within the amp, protection circuits are never perfect. I can think of no good reason for intentionally designing a speaker that places additional stress on any amp.

While it may work just fine under many circumstances, I don't advocate the additional risk.

Does this mean I can’t have one? :crying:

An Andy designed my cabinets and I wanted an Andy designed amp to go with them!

I've traded my D800 towards a D800+, and now it's in:

After a quick function test, it's time to get it into it's intended rack...

Nice!

Nowhere to try them out near me, so I can only go by samples on-line.
In the demos on youtube, I like the 2x10 better, but I've always been more of a 15 guy.
I may get a 2x10 and a 15 and then decide which to keep or maybe both!:D
I have been very happy with my 112/115 set-up which was all that was avaiable in the beginning. However, from what people who have played/own the 210 are saying it definitely seems like both a very capable stand-alone as well as a great cab to pair with the 115. My sense is that you may want to just plan your finances now to support a decision to keep both! :)

I tried out a SW115 with my Streamliner 900 and one of my P basses, so I'd know just what it would and wouldn't do - and was impressed enough to buy it on the spot... At the time, I also had a pair of PH115 cabs, and *a few* others, lol - I ended up flipping both the PH115s and buying a 2nd SW115, and have never regretted it... I'm a 15s kinda guy also, and the SW115 is just a great, great cab...

I now have my 1st gig under my belt with the D800 Plus, abfet having a D800 for a few years... I didn't get a chance to do much with it at home, so I attempted to approximate my old D800's sound via knob position... It didn't take me long to get the sound I was looking for, as I'm used to using sweepable mids... Out of curiosity, I left everything where it ended up at the gig - turns out, I'm nearly exactly at the settings the manual recommends for Rock - go figure, lol... FWIW, this was a country gig I played with a Fender Jazz, and only one of the SW115s I have... Since I now have the HPF and sweepable mids at the amp, I left my little pedal board home, and used a wireless receiver into the amp, and a Korg GA Custom tuner into the Tuner Out jack - it worked really well, and enabled me to have nothing on the floor other than the cab...

Excellent service from Mesa so far! I filled the customer support form on the website and got a reply almost immediately. Rich got me a RMA number right away. Thanks for your help!
My amp was sent away and came back a week or two ago. Happy to report that the fan noise is no longer coming through the DI and speaker! Fan is still a little louder than I prefer, but I only hear it at "living room" volume... It's not a concern in the least at stage volume. Thanks for the help @agedhorse !
