Mesa wd 800

Looking at this amp. The EQ options are attractive.

I would be playing rock funk and occasionally a little country.
Anyone got anything bad to say about it?

No man, 4-string funk and soul dude here who doubles as a rock and roll bassman with the band on a 5... hands down my favorite amp; if you're a funk man you won't be disappointed.

This demo thru some phones or studio monitors sold me, albeit on the 800+

Nothing but good things to say here. Rock, Funk, Jazz, Country Rock, Country, Americana, World Music .. this amp just works for all of those styles for me. Tone shaping options are very broad with the WD800, hard to see how you could go wrong with it, unless you just did not like the general tone of the amp (which is always possible).

Of course, the best answer is always for you to try it yourself and decide with your own ears but that's not always easy or possible.

I have all three MESA Subway amps...WD-800 was little strange for me with EQ set flat. WD-800 is not as old Walkabout head (it's better). There is too much high mids in flat setting and also too much trebles for my taste. Well with little EQ corection I can tell this amp is killer. There is more tone is more tight than WD800 or WD800+ it's also mor articulate...you just must find what you need. I like them all...
