Meshell Ndegeocello & David Dyson

I love Meshell! I saw her in concert with David quite a while ago. As wonderful as David is, when Meshell took over on bass duties, it was a whole different thing.. just felt a million times better. She is a true artist on the instrument. I couldn't believe the difference in the feel of the band when she played versus Dyson.

And... I only dream of being as good as Dyson.
+1
Meshell is unreal, great time and feel. solid bass lines.
I agree she has that something special, about her playing.

This is freaking fantastic, JAUQO, THANKS! I have loved her music and playing for years. I got to see her once, in Nashville at an event called Riverstages. She got to play one song, literally, and they kicked her off the stage. The band before her had overstayed their welcome (although nobody came out to tell them they couldn't play anymore) and because Gov't Mule was headlining and on after MeShell, some schmuck came out and told her she had to quit. I was royally ticked! I haven't been able to catch one of her shows since, but she and Gene and Frederico are crazy, phat, funktacular groove beasts. She needs to release a DVD or 20.

Oh, and +1 on her feel. Unreal. . .

wonderful find and link Jauqo...

no words:eek:

ok..maybe 3

she's the best.

Mitch

Jauqo,
Thanks for the link! I saw her when she played the PArk West and got in free by hanging out with a couple of her ....um fans.......When she came to the door she was like "Let those two in and the dude with the bass.....does anybody know him?" I was the dude with my old Pedulla and she told me that then she was looking to replace her original bass player. I took too long to get a promo to her manager. I love Dyson's playing too, and met him at '01 NAMM at the MTD booth. I was proud when he got Me'Shell's gig. No matter who is playing bass, it is like night and day when she plays. She is Groove Supreme, and a pretty funny cat...kitten.....ok I better shut up..........

MeShell is amazing. Both her tone and feel are top class. Doesn't she use something like 12 year old flatwound strings too?

I've only got her "Peace Beyond Passion" CD though. What do you guys think her best album is if I were to pick up another one?

every time I see her play I wanna curl up in a little ball and die.
Her groove is so ****ing massive that it simply crushes me.
It's not natural that someone has a groove like that. Damnit.
Funkiest person on the planet. Oh...she can write a pretty good tune too...

David dosen't play for Meshell any more.
Ah damn...I erased that when I thought the humor might be misconstrued. You must have quoted it before I changed it.

From what I've heard outside of Meshell's stuff, he's an awesome player in his own right.

What has she been up to lately? I know she was working on a project with Matt Garrison a few years ago, but that's all I've heard.

She's constanly touring and she released a CD not to long ago that featured Matt on a few tracks. She and I have talked about doing something together.

Here's some info about her CD that features matt.
