Seems like there's a new album coming out in Feb 2007. There's an EP out entitled 'The Article 3' containing material from the full sized release.

You know she is comfortable in her musical skin sharing the stage with those monsters. On her last album she gave Matt Garrison lots of room.
perform at the "Red hot+ Riot" concert featuring the music of Fela Kuti at B.A.M. in Brooklyn. "Sexy voice. Insanely great poet. Funky as anyone alive bassist. Great songwriter. Very unique and distinctive, and talented in every way". This quote taken from a previous post perfectly describes her that night and every other time I have seen her.
I am a wet behind the ear's beginner, but I have seen many of the great bass player's of today live and I think she has more "feel' to her playing than anyone. Bar none.

Now, I've dug up the real name of the "guy named Al". The guy was Michael Neal. Mystery solved. You can't call him Al.
You know it's funny, I saw a lot of replies where some were saying that they really dont care for her lyrics/rap, to me she's one of the best lyricists around, especialy on "Cookie". Her lyrics go far beyond everyday stuff but yet are easy to relate to. I guess, to each his own. That clip was great by the way. good to see she can slap some greasy funky groove.

Very, very well said and very true. She is an artist to the core.
Meshell is the definition of a true artist. Writer, arranger, musician, vocalist, producer, and she doesn't stand still she's always looking for new territory to explore. I think those who don't like her are one dimensional, afraid to investigate new things. Meshell probably one of many artists they don't like.

I can tell you that it's a special at Cafe de Merde. . .
Maybe I'm just a stupidly huge fan, but I thought all of those clips were great, even the original short one. She is insanely talented as a bassist, not to mention as a songwriter and all-around musician. Those little 4 string jazz basses are as big as she is, but she is in complete control of them, and they obey her every command! And man, the "God.Fear.Money" clip - the way she plays that, her feel, that can't be taught, that's coming from way down deep someplace. She's making that thing speak to you!
Unreal - I love David Dyson's playing, Fima probably more, but it's unmistakable when she jumps on the tune. She's perhaps the only bassist who, when she's playing the groove, I don't even know how to describe it. Her note selection and placement is always perfect, and never contrived.

Also, I know this has been posted before in the "Youtube Finds" thread, but it deserves a double. Check out "God.Fear.Money" on this (about 7:36 in) Dave misses the boat on the intro and MeShell jumps on to kick off the tune. And then... listen. . . do you hear that bass talkin' to you? Do you? It's speakin', baby!

Well, it seems I'm a few years late with this reply but what the hell. Mike Neal was actually one of the guys Me'shell learned from in D.C. He was a member of go-go stalwarts Rare Essence (Me'shell played on the D.C. go-go scene with Little Benny for a while). He's a killer player. Yossi Fine also played bass with Me'shell (just after the release of her first album, I believe). He had a project called Ex-Centric Sound System.
I'm a big fan too... one the best things about living in the Bay Area is she plays local shows regularly. I love her bass playing, her flow/lyrics and overall musical vibe! 
I would list her in my top 10 favorite musicians if she was only a bass player, or as a singer/songwriter. She happens to be both!
The only other person I could think of that combines the 2 skills with the same brilliance is, as far as I'm concerned, Paul McCartney.
