Oh and if anyone in Perth is reading, I think Dave Harrison from Allegiance used a black P IIRC. But I could be wrong most of those concerts were a blur lost between the hair and the floor rapidly approaching my face a lot...

Doesn't matter if its says "Fender Precision Bass" most of those Ibanez , Bc rich and Jackson "metal" basses have a P bass pickup in there, it will sound pretty much the same .

rob trujillo uses a pbass or two with Black Label Society... and on the other metal side... Nikki Sixx uses a pbass at times too

EVERYBODY used a P or J at some time or another back in the day, that's all there really was. Even Gene Simmons who was famous for having weird basses used P's in the studio a lot. What about:

Rob Grange

Heck there are only FIVE guitars and basses available to players:

A Tele
A Strat
A Les Paul
A Pbass
A JBass

All the rest are just minor variations on these 5.

If it's from early Dio, it would be Jimmy Bain. Bob Daisley enjoys his old P-basses. He has an awesome tone and a pedigree a mile long, which speaks volumes for his talent.

Just FYI, Bob Daisley isn't a lefty. I also thought Jimmy Bain played Yamaha basses.

Yep, newsted uses Ps in recordings. Bob Daisley from ozzy, Geezer Buttler from Sabbath. Theres this one dude who recorded an album with dio too, who played a p bass, and he had a sweet angry p bass tone.

Jimmy bain also used a BC Rich eagle with Dual P Pickups

Steve's first bass in Maiden was a J bass.

I have to disagree, I'd say 6. Stingray and other basses with humbuckers are different than split coil P or single coil J.

Whoa... not positive but I think that's my friend Rowan in this Dio pic, jamming in the studio in the early '90s. He was the 17 year old guitar prodigy who only played on one Dio album... still pretty cool.

EDIT: not trying to suggest it's someone other than who you all said it is, I think Rowan would be the one playing guitar here. thought i should clarify
