Metal without Distortion

Two things:
1. Acoustic punk and folk-punk have been around forever so it kind of surprises me a bit that there hasn’t been folk metal or acoustic metal genres (or has there?)
2. This video is a wonderful example of stage presence and stage look without going crazy. I could watch him endlessly— and I’m a straight dude. : )

Seek and destroy sounded like a Batman soundtrack to me, from the orignal series!

Those kinds of crowds, now, make me think of the London train station scene at the opening of "28 Days Later". Imagining where we're be now if the current virus was "Rage" rather than "Covid-19".

Already started in Europe and Asia, instead of drive-in movies, its drive in shows!

Several churches around here have been holding drive-in services for a few weeks now. Some blast their praises out of loudspeakers, but the clever ones use low-power FM transmitters so they can be heard over the car stereos.
The funny part is that instead of congregants shouting out their "amens," they now honk their horns.
Folk metal has been around for awhile. It's a pretty sizeable genre. Eluveite and Cellar Darling are the two folk metal bands I'm most familiar with. It's interesting to hear a metal band featuring a hurdy gurdy player.
Metal just doesn’t seem to work without distortion. I only hear intros and one off songs using traditional instruments. What about just acoustic guitars, accordions, and penny whistles?! : )
Punk is sooooo flexible in comparison.

Even with the nice jangly guitar, Timmy C’s tone made me want get up and break something. It’s so good.
"Acoustic metal"???
That works really well. Although the main guitar part is distorted a bit. But it would work entirely acoustically and clean.
I think all that stuff must be a bit too modern for me. I probably like it better without the distortion than I would with, though. Anyway, time to listen to some 78s...

Not to be a Debbie downer but yeah, no energy and not impressed.
Now With That Being Said...
You can still get heavy with out distortion..But not with C-rate comedy that littered on you tube with anyone that is older then 14. The overwhelming majority is just well... amateur and that’s putting it nicely.
Ways of doing it
-Deep very present percussion
-Droney sounds
-Add a bit of testosterone (serious)

Metal without distortion works great if it's written right. Just gotta expand your definition of metal.
overdrive pedal and a wha-wha....was all my old guitarist used..Sometime he didn't always use it, the sheer volume was enough.......with a marshall stack of course..
