Metal you've been enjoying lately

I've never understood whats so appealing about metal, could somebody tell me why they like metal?

just out of curiosity, how did you wander into this thread if you're not a metal fan?

In my opinion, the attraction of metal is different for everyone - some people like the anger/rage/intensity, some people like the speed/technical aspects, others like the rhythms and riffs... it all depends. I like all of the above. Metal does something in my brain that other genres just don't do. It's not that it's better than other genres... it's just that there is nothing else like it!

Well you have some of the best metal in the world in Norway! Get involved! :hyper:

Bleh, if there's one kind of metal I REALLY dont like its black metal. I dont see ANY appeal at ALL.

I mean, sure, I listen to Burzum. But thats just because I find it hilarious, and its more ambient than anything else. But I think black metal just sounds like a chopper with a repetitive monotonous riff and screaming on top... Horrible.

hahahaha it's true, Varg and his fellows aren't exactly the pinnacle of metal music.

Maybe try Sweden? Lots of great bands!

I agree with that, but I love the black-metal scene and how much conviction they all have.

And I especially like "War" by Burzum, its painfully ironic.

I just ordered the newest CD of a band called Saviours from Oakland, California which also looks amazing along with two Melvins CDs

YEAH! My old band played with Saviours when they came to Pittsburgh, twas a great show. Glad to see them get props, they kind of have an "old school" sound about them I really dig.

I'm trying to make up my mind about what metal I like lately. I've been getting back into things, I was on a prog kick for a long time, I'm just now getting back into metal, even though I've always listened to it. It's been a lot of black metal recently.
