FYI, I saw Their Pet Monkey play last week, and can confirm that they do not have a keyboardist anymore. Apparently Ike was going through some girlfriend issues that were getting in the way of his commitments to the band, so Dave and the other guys kicked him out. Right in the middle of the tour! Can you believe that? Left him and his Moog on the side of the road just outside Spokane. Crazy...

They're looking, so if you guys know anyone, but for now they are just playing without one. Still sounds brutal.

Wait, what?

You win, hard.

Re the OP, I haven't heard a metalcore track in years that I've even bothered to find out who it was by. Bands like Trap Them, on the other hand... Now we're talking!

I'm going to say "yes" because the music is dying, not the popularity. It's one of the most overdone genres I have heard. I don't know why it should be like this, as there are tons of different styles of metal and punk to put together, but almost all bands labeled as "metalcore" just imitate each other.

Still a better trend than nu metal. My god.

Metal in general is a style that will never die. I don't really think Metalcore is on its way out. There aren't really new bands coming in, but the bands that started it all off won't be dead for another 30 years or so yet. Now all these other types of core... I wish they would just hurry up and die out. =P People just go silly and name every band a new genre these days. I would love to just punch them very hard. =]

I wish metalcore could die, it's ruining true metalcore bands

and ofcourse bands like Madball, Agnostic Front (later material), Integrity, Earth Crisis, Chokehold, and The Cro Mags
that's metallic hardcore...not this breakdown every 10 seconds with generic chuggy ****

I could see the genre going places if more creativity was involved (same goes for the 'true' metal genres as well, mind you).

I'm with most people who say copying each other is the name of the game nowadays, but I don't have a special distaste for it. I just pick the bands I like and be done with it.

Thanks for the feedback..

I see a lot of dislike for the whole genre. If you click on my sig you can hear my group which has been called metalcore. If you would like take a listen and give me the feedback.

We just lost our drummer so I was thinking now would be a good time to work on a new sound for the group. Members have argued that the biggest bands in metal these days are considered metalcore. Which I agree. But I just think that its a flooded market and we will get lost in the shuffle.

At the end of the day we write and play music we like. But we have a lot of other influences collectively. We also are considering how we can break out so to speak. And a different style of metal may help us.

whut? seriously, seriously whut?

I'm from north-eastern Europe, and the only metalcore band that could be labeled as "known" around here is "Lamb of God". Take it into account that metal is very popular here.
On the other side of the world things might be different, but here thrash and prog./sludge(like mastodon/ baroness) are really on the raise.

Well I really wouldn't consider L.O.G metalcore.

But I am on the same page. America defiantly falls behind in metal compared to other places around the world.

Ah, i seriously didn't see that comin'..^_^

Well, if you want to incorporate some other gender parts in your music and U.S. is falling behind Europe, I believe it would be smart thing to check out what genders are on the wave here - after all, the same wave will hit states, sooner or later.

To make it easier for u: Scandinavia - viking black/folk black as usual; North eastern Europe(including Russia, except Moscow) - thrash and a bit of heavy. Can't say anything about central or southern parts tho - haven't been there in a while.

Yeah the folkmetal seems to have small buzz around the states. I was thinking of a less produced/raw sound. Like early Thrash. I see kids (I'm 31) at these shows really respecting the early 90's thrash bands. Even the 80's for that matter. Something that sounds like old Metallica. Rough production and pure anger. Some balzing solos.
