I've come across and owned a lot fo MIM guitars and with the rare exception, all the hardware has been fully functional with no issues aside from maybe cleaning off some surface rust from age.

I'm not saying that the hardware (tuners, bridge) on an American Standard/American Professional isn't higher quality, lighter, more expensive, but that doesn't necessarily mean the MIM tuners and bridges are inferior.

Thats like saying the stock tires on your new truck are total crap because there are other tires on the market that cost cost 3-4 times as much. Sure those tires might actually be "better" (fill in whatever criteria you want to use to describe "better"), but it doesn't mean that those tires aren't going to get you where you need to go adequately and safely. But if you're the type to do a ton of off-roading (and I mean ACTUALLY off-road, not just make your truck look like you off-road with it!), drive in snow a lot, live in the mountains up a steep gravel or un-graded driveway, etc., then you might benefit from an upgrade. But like most of us who don't live in such extreme conditions, and/or aren't touring musicians who beat their gear up on the road night after night, the hardware on a MIM Standard is absolutely adequate, even if you're a weekend warrior player who plays a bar gig now and then, jams with your buddies in the garage now and then, or is a home/bedroom player.

Same as a bicycle analogy is just a single rider car with no engine analogy.

I had a bad experience with the new Limited Edition 70's bass MIM - jazz. Didn't sound like a 70's bass and when I pulled out the jack the input and vol/tone knobs came up with it (Plate). I have only good experiences with the American made fenders so I won't switch. Not saying either is better or worse its just my experience.

I have both, a Fender 5 string Jazz bass MIM and a Fender 5 string Jazz bass made is Corona USA. The tuners are more heavy duty on the USA bass, but then the tuners have never given me trouble on the Mexi bass. Both necks feel great, both sound great. The fret board on the USA bass is a little darker and the wood seems to be a little nicer, (smoother, less porous)
Overall, I think the difference is very slight.

I dont think anyone will say there aren't any differences. Like you have attested, there ARE differences. Are these differences important to you, or in your price range, etc.? Both basses will get the job done.

And here I go with ANOTHER car analogy...Do you want the base model Subaru Outback or the Touring edition? Both will get you there safely and at the same speed, same engine, same drivetrain, etc., but one is a bit more refined with a little more attention paid to it, but that comes at a price.

Resale is higher for USA< but that's because you will pay more when it's brand new.

As far as getting your money back if you end up selling it, that could be said of both as long as you bought both used. Regardless of country of origin, either will take a hit if you bought it new and then decide to sell.
