Mic ---> Audacity

I'm in need of some basic recording setup. I'm thinking of getting a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Can I run through these two right into my laptop? Do I need to have anything else in the signal chain to make this work properly?

labgnat i think your thinking of a mic pre not a DI box to get his signal into the computer. You will need in order: microphone, preamp, analog to digital converter. Sometimes these things, including a DI are all built into the same box, like digidesigns mbox. You could do a mic straight into your computer if you got a usb mic. I have not heard the new Rode mics, but they are supposed to be like a professional level podcasting mic. Traditionally broadcast mics make good bass mics so it might be worth checking out.
