Michael Henderson bass tone appreciation

I gotta say - Michael Henderson is probably one of my all-time favorite bassists, and I have had a lot of favorites over the decades! This is one of my favorite parts of Prelude from Agharta:



The phaser on the pops - the pops themselves - then in the segue to the next section he manually tunes down his E string and goes for it!

I've been doing an improvisational psychedelic live ambient project with a keyboard player for the last year+. His influences are his influences - my influences are "the MH era of Miles", Bill Laswell, and 1971-1972 Weather Report. I got into Fusion because of Jaco and Stanley Clarke, but "On the Corner" and the Cellar Door Sessions were the point where I found what I'd been looking for in the first place.

Among jazz peeps in NY (at least the scenes I’ve interacted with) On The Corner is a classic.

It might be considered a classic now, but when it came out it was roundly panned by the jazz critics for not being jazz, blah, blah and sold poorly.
